You have your hobbies, we have ours. These damn lowered vehicles.
I thought if I completely stripped it, put cheapo buckets in it and iffy harnesses, then ran it as a daily? Also making sure to make it way too low on some type of Speedline wheel.
Well you know, I'm sorry I disappoint you with the lack of c*ntishness in this thread. Either way, I think I've got the setup just right now. Handles very well, almost zero body roll.
Wolfrace Triads were reps of these. If that helps you! LOL
Cheers! I'm very happy with it, guess thats the main thing?
Also LOL at 7 pages for a slightly lowered car on some Wheels.
Did some fettling today. It's better, but I really need the adjustable top mounts. It's nice having less bodyroll, can definitely attack corners with more speed!
I think you hit the nail on the head there. I really like it, but I know it's nothing special. Then again, it's not offensively bad or "Ruined" either.
Thanks :). I've wanted a MK5 since they launched, think it was a massive step back in the right direction for VW. So very happy I can own one...
I went for FK Streetsport things in the end, and I've been pleasantly surprised. The ride isn't any more uncomfortable so far but its so much more controlled in corners!
The thing that makes me laugh is just how angry people have been made by this. As far as I'm concerned it's just on some...
s**te ones, I only put the wheels on to set the suspension tbh otherwise I'd have waited for better tyres. Michelin Pilot Sport 3s or Goodyear Eagle F1's next month though. May put something sticky on the old wheels for track/super sunny day use :).
I genuinely don't see what all the fuss is...
They are awesome cars. And I don't really care that much that they are bbs, I just liked the design. It's a pretty common design as said, I just like how these full the arches and just happen to have a spot on tyre size for this car.
Thanks fellas! It does make me laugh. I like them and that's enough for me. As for the issues, on other forums I get people replying with advice and messaging me with their own experience on mk5 platforms (something I'm new to). Here I get a barrage of verbal diahhrea. I'm sure we've all had...
Another person that can't read a thread, but thanks for your input.
And as above really, fair enough if you're not a fan of the wheels, but it's barely changed from standard. No need to class the car as a write off.
If I did that then....
18x8j, et37. No spacers or anything, just bolted straight on. Everyone says ET35 is the perfect fitment for the GTI, so was surprised how close these are to the arch.
Well, I feel educating you will be a start. MK6 and MK5 share the same suspension set up, so it's not actually THE problem. And as above (Think I've said this at least 3 times), the fouling issues I'm working to solve.
Yeah, adjustable top mounts are coming for it. A tiny bit of arch work, and whatever else needs doing. As long as the tyres clear the arch, the height and stiffness seem spot on. It already is a massive improvement on flat roads/roundabouts. Just need more space for wheel movement on the bumpy...
Pretty much all jealous because I'm 21 and drive a nice car and do what I want with it? Or maybe annoyed that despite years of them hating the "OMG SO BRASH" things I do, I continue to do them? Lets all remember this is just a Golf GTI lowered about 40mm with some BBS Alloy wheels, ladies.
And...
Oh don't come in here with your intelligent response, it just doesn't suit. ;)
But yes, the height is more than drivable. I just have to sort the front so it doesn't catch (what I think) is just the arch liner. Could be a case of just rolling the lip on the arch and it's done, at least I hope...
It won't for long! Trust me, if I cant sort it it's getting raised higher! It's fine on smooth roads, just big bumps and pot holes that cause it. Think it needs a touch of arch work, maybe adjustable top mounts just to get it sweet. Job for the weekend anyway.
Either way, it goes around...
So I've finally done something noticeable to the Golf. After finding some wheels I quite liked the look of on Sunday, I found myself in the car going to collect them. By last night I'd not only done that, but fitted coilovers. Funny how things work out.
This is the fronts all the way down, I'm...
Yes, it's that time of year again. The M25 is echoing with the sounds of VTECCC YOOOOO powershifts and I'm in bed having just gotten up.
For those of you who don't know, for the past couple of years we've met up with some Dutch Honda guys over here for Mimms. We met them whilst going ot Heavon...
