Coolant returns into the tank at idle, but from reading online it does sound like the water pump is failing when revved over 2k.
Cheers for the offer Dan, if I don't get any interest at a grand then I think I'll get it fixed though. Typical that it happened 3 days after advertising it on...
If my MV2's hadn't been wearing a new set of Bridgestone's I think I'd have gone for 19's and a drop. If your not going to lower it 19's don't work IMO.
My 325ci on 18 inch CSL reps. I live fairly close to Bradford, so can I be cool?
I think it looked better on these than standard, but each to their own.
I'm going to be cycling to work so we are going to see if we can manage with just one car for 6 months. I've spent quite a lot of money on my house over the last two years, I just want to get it finished now so all my money is going in to that. I'm hoping it will be completed by the end of the...
I think you've got a problem Dan, you just love buying cars! It would be a good buy for someone at 1600 though, you can't get a much of a car for that sort of money.
There are a couple of negatives, I've listed them in the advert. There is also a bit of a gap in the service history. To be honest if someone offered me £1600 I'd take it.
I did think about a remap, but at the end of the day it's just a fairly cheap daily.
I thought the same about the GTI badge, that it should have a red "I". But I read somewhere that the badges were added at the dealership before they were sold and not all of them were badged in the same way...
It is a mix but mainly A/B roads and through town. My 182 returned 32/33 over the same sort of trips and the Saab did 22/23. So the 1.8T is fairly economical.
I sold my Saab last October as I wanted to save a bit on running costs. As I've been doing quite a lot of work on my house I wanted something cheap that I could use for going to the tip in. I started off with a budget of about a grand. I looked at the usual 1.6 Astra's/Focus's etc until I came...
I really like those wheels, certainly prefer them over MV1's and MV2's just look wrong on pre face lift coupes. It just needs some new plates and I'd leave it at that.
Looks like a nice example. I quite fancy a white 5 door next.
Not keen on those wheels at all though. I'd be spending £400 on some BBS CH reps, swapping the tyres over and selling the Monza's on eBay. I bet you'd get £250 for them so it wouldn't end up costing you much.
I think you did the right thing. If it was rusty, needed a gearbox rebuild and the belts were due you wouldn't have got more than a grand for it. Some people might have sold it on not mentioning the issues and got closer to 2k for it, but if you got 3k for it in bits then fair play to you.
I think I've had 1*2's for the last 4 winters and they've always been fine in the snowy conditions. 2 years ago I took my Cup up to The Lakes for a bit of a blast.....
I agree, you'd have to be a little bit special to buy it for 40k and not sell for 50k. Unless you are an ethusiast/collector and are going to keep it in a air tight, heated garage for most of it's life.
Not a lot of things that come out of Liverpool are legit are they? ;)
It does look in good condition though and IMO Monaco is the best colour for a 172.
