Scott sent through a few pics of bits being done,
Whoever had the idea of replacing the rear seats in a Clio with this lump either deserves a medal, or a trip to the madhouse...undecided as to which.
Engine with covers off,
Looks way better with the new exhaust. Better tips and stainless so...
A few pics from Arun at ATD Detailing.
In effect, after a thorough detail and a comprehensive once over from Scott, it should be all good to go..
Or, is that wishful thinking?
Collected the car back from Scott today.
What a difference!
Cambelt,
New bottom pulley and idlers,
Water pump,
Clutch,
Front brake callipers correctly fitted,
Rear brake pads correctly fitted,
Quicksilver exhaust fitted,
Air con sorted,
New strip thingy fitted to the bottom of the front spoiler...
Thanks for the offer mate but am likely to leave the original plate on the car.
The Mini had one that was bought for me as a 60th b/day pressie and the one on the CSL came with the car.
That's the plan, never been a great believer in service history as it can be forged quite easily, especially on an older car.
Bottom the car, start afresh and take it from there, it'll go to Scott for everything.
....and breathe
Had the dreaded phone call from Scott and the good news is he says it's a good car! Talk about relief
He said the bottom pulley would need replacing as he'd expected, the front callipers had been very nicely painted in his opinion but the only problem was that...
Have to agree with you on the comfort of them. Not only that but unsure if a change of seats would spoil the look of the interior, it's not intended to be (or to be used as) a track car so a little dubious of trying to make it look as though it's pretending to be one.
Will check snappy out...
Dropped the car off at Scotts this morning, strange as never having seen one on the road there were 5 x phase 2 down there. Fascinating place to look around and a very genuine guy.
Had a good chat about the car, was useful as I know the square root of bugger all about them and he came up with a...
They all look great mate, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's got the bug for trying to achieve perfection
It's quite frightening actually how the costs mount up yet all we see is what wants doing next!
I know what you mean mate re the CSL,
However, although the car was one of my favourites, it was purely as an investment and on buying it I'd said that once it reached a certain value it'd be sold as it would be over my comfort level. 20 months after buying it was gone :)
It was only ever going...
Different day, different decision!!
Having looked into whether or not I'd have to pay VAT on an Orbisoud and being disappointed by the answer, Quicksilver it is.
By the time the VAT had been added to the Orbisoud it would have been not far off twice the price of the Quicksilver and approaching...
Already spoken to him mate,
He hummed and ahhed and then politely declined to make one, said he'd had a few too many being initially delighted then back after a few weeks saying their exhaust was too loud :)
Thanks anyhow bud.
Sooo,
After a good while searching, which had been preceded by even more searching prior to ordering an Orbisoud....I'm sticking with the Orbisoud.
Did a search for Quicksilver on the V6 forum and noted there were a few comments re fit and a few more on droning as riz commented on. A similar...
Have spoken to a couple of local companies re a custom one, Miltek and Scorpion.
Neither were unable to offer anything.
Have had many listens to the Quicksilver one on their site and, to be honest, I could live with that ( we're all different  ).
The only nagging fear I have re the Orbisoud...
Maybe yes, maybe no.
Not exactly overwhelmed with choices, either Quicksilver or Orbisoud from what I can find.
Mailed the Frenchies and they can make me an Orbisoud Race (no other option given), decided to take a chance and hope it doesn't rattle windows or scare dogs.
Had a Supersprint...
