Managed to get video uploaded on my lunch. What do you all think? As I said it reduces drastically after about 5 minutes or so and goes to just your normal whine.
You can really hear it on the video lol, actually makes it sound a bit worse than it really is! If you can anything grindy/rattly...
Yea the belts were done just last weekend! It's not got any louder since getting done but I was hoping the belt change would address the whine, sadly it didn't!
Does yours quiet down after warming up?
Nah I've always heard a whine on start up since I bought it, probably about 7 months ago. It does seem to be getting gradually louder however.
Hopefully the video will help shed some light on it!
I've taken one this morning and will upload tonight. It's definitely a lot louder on initial start up while cold. Then about 3-5 minutes into the journey I am left with what is probably the natural whine.
Well some of you may have seen my recent threads about the tram-lining and more recently my belt change. Due to the crappy weather I still haven't had time to check out what could be causing the tram-lining but I will this weekend. Anyway my 182 has always had a whine from the engine bay that...
I know your pain, my family think I am crazy as I can always hear something they can't in cars... that's why I can live with a 182, everything makes noise so I know there's no point
Well my first 182 also had a very high pitch noise, more of a scream which was the exhaust. You could always get a garage to get the car in the end and check the whole system?
Mine did a similar noise but mostly all the time at high acceleration. The wing mirror casing was loose and the air was getting inside causing a whistle, was pretty loud inside the car.
Try folding your mirrors in and seeing if it goes
One thing I will say is make sure you see a receipt for that belt change! And factor in the fact that if it's a crappy none specialist garage that did it you might be thinking about paying for it again...
No word of a lie here, one of the 182's I went to see quoted in the ad a recent full...
I set my limit at 70k but my car had had a complete suspension refresh and a recent dyno showed 183hp so didn't mind it was higher, I would say keep your options open and don't set search filters. Look at each car individually, don't buy anything without a solid service history.... and if you do...
Hi, does anyone know the standard camber settings on a 182? I want to return mine to default.
Got a camber gauge off a pal so I will give it a go this weekend.
Thanks, also I did search but the only thread I found turned into an arguement over standard being -0.5 & -1.5
I believe it is a lot easier to just replace the whole driveshaft anyway, something to with the removal of the CV joint. It can be done but quite tricky, replacement driveshafts aren't too much more anyway
My friend is selling his Yozza on eBay, it's end tonight and is currently sitting at 1 bid £150
