They don't lower 45mm more like 30mm at the most. Sportlines springs are totally fine on OE shocks. I've ran them on 2 172 for countless amounts of miles without a problem along with many others on this forum.

182 cup shocks won't fit on a 172. 172 cup shocks will fit on a non cup 172.

Dropped the Trophy off a Rentec this morning to have a SMF & R26.r clutch fitted along with new drop links, anti twist links, track rods & ends and a new steering rack bush.

If the Renault garages down south are anything like the ones in central Scotland then you'll struggle to get a test drive in a new 200.

Highly recommend Rentec. My Megane 225 Trophy is going into them on Saturday for a new smf & clutch along with a few other bits & bobs.

My 172 was doing the exact same thing as yours a few weeks back. Turned out to be a shagged gearbox earth strap.

Easiest and cheapest way is to fit new 172 cup shocks.

Oh and get rid of the sticker at the back quarter.

I'd love one but unfortunately finances dictate. I've been out in a 320 bhp 250 though and holy Santa clause s**t it could go some. Personally I've never found the interior to be dull in them especially compared to the mk2. I'll make do with this for now.
