Interesting! Mine has a rather noisy PS pump after boiling the fluid last year at Llandow. But it made that noise before, after, and even when the fluid was drained & replaced.
I've had the same issue for a while and have been trying to fix it for a while now. I would get the creaking, but I would also get a metallic snap/clunk when turning at slow speeds/stationary.
The track rod ends are fine, and its been passing MOTs all the time. I'd thought it may be subframe...
Just to throw my opinion into the mix, Phoenix Motorsport in Accrington setup my Impreza 100 years ago and were decent. And a Lotus specialist. So they're used to light cars that keep breaking.
Another thing to bear in mind is on the older 172 & 182 models is that some parts are starting to get hard to find, and are no longer made.
Not the end of the world, but something to bear in mind. I love my 172 to bits. Started off as a totally standard car and upgraded bits when I felt they...
Bought a new sensor, fitted it. Haven't moved out of the garage but the code reader is still showing the steering angle sensor value as being -80something thousand degrees.
Is there something else that may be causing it? The number looks too close to what it was last time to be a coincidence...
I love my Ph2 172, but more and more parts of getting harder to get hold of.
I had a right carry on trying to source an ABS sensor, likewise with the bulkhead brake pipe in the engine bay. Now it needs a steering angle sensor and I'm finding the same.
There are a few out there in the Renault...
I fitted new Cup shocks with the current Apex lowering springs I had. Planned to replace them but after I’d stripped the car they performed a lot better. Before the car was stripped the Apex springs weren’t great and I understood the criticisms. But with less weight in the rear they behaved...
Just wondering what everyone is doing regarding sourcing steering angle sensors etc now they're getting like hens teeth.
Are they still made at all? Will one from another car fit? Car is a Ph2 172.
Thanks all! Will keep at it. I took it out tonight for twenty minutes and it was sweet as a nut.
The tube in using is maybe 5mm OD so no chance it’s blocking the way.
I’ve got a 172 ph2, 85,000 miles.
I knew it was weeping gearbox oil from the selector seals but the box has always been fine - never had a reason to worry. It’s not really been used properly in a good year since before Covid, so I decided to top up the oil. I found the plug on the front of the...
My aircon never worked properly until the roof sensor was reconnected. Don’t know why. But the display would show the temp changing, but it never changes the temp of the air coming out.
I've looked into wheel weights massively and there's no hard an fast equation to work out the equivalent sprung/unsprung weight relation... BUT... 4.7kg a corner is a huge saving! The car will be transformed!
Looks great by the way. When I was shopping for my Clio I was never keen on this...
As others have said cobalt should be your next port of call (Dormer call it HSSE). Alternatively something with a titanium nitride coating (some variation of TiAlN, TiNAl, AlTiN etc, all just variations of the same gold coating) would help as well.
I sell a lot of Dormer through work, and it’s...
Does it only happen when drilling specific materials? E.g, you're always drilling stainless?
Are you currently just using bog standard HSS drills?
Presuming you're on a bench drill, not by hand?
Has anyone put a heatshield on the brake pipe that goes across the bulkhead? If there is supposed to be one there its fallen off lol.
I've had to replace the pipe and don't fancy doing it again.
Nothing major, I was planning a velcro sleeve type like below, I've not got a turbo or anything to...
Does he take commissions? Because that 5 looks wild.
It’s not so much that it’s overly shouty as an electric car, I think it’s quite restrained in that area. It’s just it’s a concept car, so they’re always a bit off-piste.
Coming up to my 3rd year with Reis insuring my lightly modified Lexus GS430 daily. Great company to deal with and considering speaking to them when the Clio renewal comes round.
I like both, but I think in a lineup of 911s I'd prefer to have the ambers and stand out a bit. But I'm getting proper nostalgic for 90s cars at the minute!
Similarly I was a bit bemused when I viewed a car with "full service history" that just had 8 stamps in the book. No details of work done. It could have had everything, it might not. No way of checking unless I called the dealer, which wasn't possible as it was about 9pm
