Loads of adjustment Pete, you can even run them against the passenger a-pillar and still get a view, that would be awkward to look at though.
You need like a 10mm gap between the ROP and the roof to fit the supplied brackets so if you don't have that room just buy a bare mirror and make your own.
Yeah that's why I buy every set I see :)
After I have used them I will start to make custom offset holders for powerflex or if I'm in a place to tub the car and can run the uniballs on cup wishbones.
Yeah I didn't think it would be much different, its 10mm offset at the bush end but I never measured the ball joint centre.
Its for a stronger wishbone design Mike with the slicks they ran. The side loads will be transferred to the subframe better with the straight drilling and they had that...
Yeah I have some bits fitted.
There wasn't really a stock geo setting as such, there would have been at one point but as soon as the race teams received them they would have had custom setups so anything will be long gone.
Adjustment was done with shims on the rear beams, bolts in the shock...
Yeah that's more than realistic, make sure to take it to a specialist if possible as they will take the least amount of time, probably know what to look for and will get cheaper parts than other places.
Aye just camber shims.
Yeah cup tie rods are specific to the cup (longest ones) and the track rods ends are all the same. I have had it twice now where the thread bottoms out in the TRE with anything more than parallel and toe out.
I'll be bringing it anyway so its there if you want.
Yeah it was RS-R's and they wear shoulders for fun.
Rear toe is adjustable with shims behind the stub axle and you also get rear hub spacers for in there so its the best way to widen the track if you plan to. Saves messing with wheel spacers and will prolong the bearings.
If your there on the...
Yeah there isn't much that can out brake a catherham other than a formula car but a Clio racer will give it a good run for its money when driven well.
I have never been on track with Caterfields other than at Knockhill but my friend has a top spec Westfield and and I brake the same as him in my...
Aye you'll probably need all of that 4 deg too, I ran 5 with just springs and managed to get outside edge wear lol. Knockhill is funny as the corners aren't high speed but you get massive compressions in normal direction.
Is that 10' toe out on the rear Gaz? Do you have a RARB as well?
Corner speeds yes they're and the fact you fly up and down the box which improves and deceleration. That's them on fixed damping too as the fundamentals are sorted like the roll centres, bump steer and a low centre of gravity.
They embarrass a LOT of stuff in flowing circuits, stop start layout...
I had time to do a few bits today but nothing serious.
The rear wiper was annoying me as it had a broken piece and a mismatched wiper blade. I got a new arm and blade but in typical Clio form it was seized solid.
I burnt the wiper to remove it from the boss.
To be left with this
I then...
Sounds like a really good car that does, I look forward to seeing the pics and refreshing to see it handling itself. I have built a good bit of the cup racer stuff into my car so its nice to see it doing well.
@Russ Rallye had one previously and @ian-speedy runs a converted racer as a rally...
Most Carbon Lorraine pads are similar price I thought. Ds3000's are expensive anywhere I have seen them.
Yeah if you don't get around to epas then running the fluid down cured the boiling over in mine.
To solve the PAS boiling over I would replace the fluid first as water will have got in there over the years which will encourage it to boil. After that just run it on minimum level mark, that will cure it.
My bucket seats were one of my favourite mods alongside the RARB in my last track car...
Yeah it doesn't look oem, take it out to have a proper look. It seems like its made up of two pieces in your pic so maybe you can use a long bolt instead if the stud to tied you over until you source the right one.
That way you can take the car out and feel the difference as I can tell your...
Have you tried the mount both ways around?
To me it looks like its the wrong stud on the gearbox as the Renault ones have a taper on the very end. Do you have a picture?
Welcome.
Same as any other internal combustion engine.
There is loads of threads in the engine section if you have a look and there is also a search box in the top right corner if every page.
The flavour of the month is turbo or supercharging for around 2 - 3.5k on average or going down the...
There's a long stud that screws into the gearbox, you can see it pictured.
Fit the mount with the 2 x13mm bolts, jack under the box and lift it up until the stud pokes through the mount and then fit the large aluminium washer and nut. The rubber washer goes between the box and the mount on the...
Replace both lower suspension arms. It sounds like either the arms are worn out or the bolts have elongated their fixing points and are causing a geometry change when the steering is loaded up.
Circa £60 a side from Renault and they come complete with ball joints. An hours work a side for home...
Re: dmallett's indecisive clio thread! Monaco ph2 pg1+, Titanium ph1 pg31+, PB ph1 pg
Agreed what a jumble. 3.4mm is the total across the axle not per side.
You need more camber up front as its only set at 0.8 deg where as the rear is 1.7 deg. The front should have more camber than the rears...
You have the same length bars front and back with the string positioned to make a perfect rectangle, you then square that rectangle to the car on the same point left and right until the measurements are equal on both axles.
The measurements are bigger in the rear as the string ends up further...
So I have started to tick some of the jobs off the list.
Got the car in the lock up, jacked up and ready to go.
I was faced with this which boils my piss on these Clio's.
Spent some time to straighten it half decent and give it a lick of stone chip before I revisit the cosmetics...
Fair enough. I just thought it was a minter with from what's been said and the milage.
I'm sure it will be fine when done, its a lovely car. I still haven't seen a red one in the flesh.
