Removing the pas pump requires no idler fitted with the cup alternator brackets, just bolt it up and find a belt.
If your not familiar with belts then fit the brackets, adjust the tensioner to minimum, pull a piece of string around all the pulleys you're using, mark it and then...
Block the pipe that goes to the breather plate on top of the rocker cover or the idle will be high and then remove the plastic pipe that leads from canister>rocker cover.
Either a resistor or pull the solenoid of the top of the canister and leave it plugged in and secured away.
You can leave...
Mr Toms on here recently had a stupid amount of a difference which was only realised after fitting spacers although he never gave a figure it looked 15mm
Here's some pics of a cup racer setup for the Clio. The RCA pin is tapered into the hub and parallel where it goes through the spherical (they're called uniball's by Renault for some reason)
holder. R-Sport in Wimbledon can get them from Dieppe or alternatively martijnk or @jp might have...
I thought I would post a link to my string rig I made as it might be useful to some.

Has anyone tried something a little different from the usual

Yeah its just apparent on some past threads on here where the beam geometry hasn't been atoo bad but when spacers are fitted its obvious the beam either isn't central or has knocked on of the legs.
As you say not a big deal handling wise but when you start trying to run things with very little...
Yeah it does but it won't tell you if its bent around its rotational axis or even how central it is to the car, that's what I was trying to say in the ramble above.
I have to disagree Mark........ to remove a taper and then fit a parallel pin with a pinch nut is asking for trouble. Most RCA pins are tapered to stop elongating??
Yes it could I suppose by using the shell as a reference point when checking the rear camber and toe rather than just the wheel face itself.
It couldn't tell you if its bent around its mounting points although using a tape measure from underneath the spring cups to the floor with the rear...
Clio hubs have 23 splines and so does the JC5 gearbox.
You don't want to go away from that pictured hub above it looks infinitely better than a 1*2 hub just from that picture. Get mk2 cup racer unibal (spherical) holders (Marks are a copy of these) and tapered extender pins and try them in your...
Make a custom or a modified original loom to put the fuse box under the scuttle which then leaves a great space for a huge air filter.
Mount the coolant bottle next to the passenger strut too (only two small pipes to change.
Carbon canister removal and associated pipework.
Acoustic valve and...
How do you mean Sonny? The front pipe hangs off the front grill and can be adjusted, if the car has a prang in a race I can then tie it around the slam panel with string to what ever height I want. The height is not so important though +- 1" is fine.
Aye no problem, fit ph2 front and back bumpers first though haha. I would need to add to the front bar to clip onto a ph1 front end somehow.
You had me doubting myself there haha.
Cheers
I suppose it would be a good reference for checking the level of ground the cars on but the camber is in relation to the plumb (vertical) which is exactly as a hunter would do it, they don't take a reading in relation to a datum on the car? Am I missing something?
Yeah thats a good idea, I did think about wheel wheel cups but there expensive.
Yeah my race car only moves 20mm in droop even when you jack it up, high rate springs won't move like you say.
After a recent thread revival on here I decided to make myself a string rig so that I can geo the car anywhere as long as its nearly flat. Ideal for track side adjustments.
So I came up with a plan and went to my local B&Q to see what was in offer and what was cheapest while still looking...
It is that easy if you make it adjustable and it stops the need for fiddling with axle stands which is what takes the time the other way. Every time you roll and bounce the car after a change you have to setup the axle stands again.
My rig will only be used in the same way as yours Tony, as a...
:pHaha funny bugger, If you move the car they need reset again which is the bonus of the pole rigs. The bumper gets in the way of the mirror on most cars I have done, you need a good 100mm? Do you use them so the read out is under the sill or something
Same thing but without the need for axle stands and you have mobile datums with this.
Optical ones? They don't work on lowered cars IME and again aren't mobile ;)
Yeah we never ventured into that, there was couples in some right cringeworthy embraces to be seen though
The food and room service is the best point we found.
I wish I had more time down there, I did venture along that road until Kirkbymoorside but I bared left towards Goathland over the moors.
Thats what all the stock car guys do as it needs doing every race basically but that's a bit more agricultural than a circuit setup.
Yeah I don't know of any other way to check bump than to remove the springs? My lock is near dead on level (or close enough) so I can get away with blocks and...
