I had these exact symptoms and it turned out the bolts holding the steering rack to the subframe were loose. I would put money on this being your problem.
It's easy enough to check yourself. At the back of the subframe by the ARB, there are 4 x 16mm bolts holding the 'rack to the subframe. You...
Thanks mate. I'm sure it won't look as good with time, I still intend to use it as intended, but at least it should be mechanically sound (from a suspension/brakes PoV) for a good few years now.
The inner tie rods have been zinc plated the same as all nuts and bolts.
As for the track rod ends and ball joints, they have been coated in Dynax-UC, it's a clear film, a bit like a lacquer, but is designed to prevent rust. I've heard good things, so I'm hopeful it keeps them rust-free!
I would echo what @Arran_ said and go with a suspension refresh. I took my Trophy off the road early last year to do the same. I hadn't got any real experience working on cars, but was keen to give it a go and learn.
Here's how it's looking now (any excuse to post a few photos :tongueout:) ...
I have to agree with Daniel - common sense, surely?
Anyway, it looks like a T45 to me, but as has already been said, get yourself a set of Torx bits from Halfords and it'll save you the hassle of buying individual sockets, only to find they're the wrong ones.
How does it drive now it's been mapped @masekwm?
I'd love a set of bodies for mine at some point, so would be interested to see what you think to the way it drives.
I have just bought 3l's of Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75w-80 from Opie Oils. I've yet to use it, so I couldn't comment on how good it is, but it has been recommended by others.

Thanks all for your help. Swapped the caliper over this morning, following @Oggy172's instructions, and also did new discs and pads. Hopefully that's my DCI sorted for a while now, so I can concentrate on getting my Trophy finished...
Thanks for that.
When it comes to the handbrake cable, can they be a bit of a problem to remove?
Also, is it essential to bleed the brakes afterwards? Or could I get away with dropping it into a garage next week to have this done?
I bought some a few months back from
Renault. Can't remember how much I paid, but do remember them being quite reasonable. Try Paul @ Renault Parts Direct, I'm sure he'll be able to sort some out for you.
Too much, lol! But they *should* be good for a few years now. The car is very much a keeper so I don't mind spending a bit of money to keep it at its best.
The Sachs aren't exactly comfortable either mate. They make up for it on a good B-road though, right? :)
Yozza/BTM, BTB, Pure Motorsport and the Orbisoud are the best 'off the shelf' systems, in my opinion. However, aside from the PM system, which is readily available as far as I know, they're no longer in production and aren't easy to get hold of.
I know I only posted some similar photos a few pages back, but I managed to get some more with a DSLR this time, and well, I thought I'd be an ASW and post them up :tongueout:
So here's what I've been up to...
Yes I know the ABS sensor is missing a screw - it's in the post
I'm hoping...
Not saying it's connected to the issues you're having, but I'd check the condition of your inner tie rods, mate. The rubber boots look to have split and you don't want any dirt or water getting in there. If the inner tie rods are ok you can just replace the boots themselves.
Looks like it'll be a nice example when it's back up and running!
I'd definitely keep it standard though. It makes no sense to buy a car for its low running costs and then spend money modifying it.
Congratulations @Tim. - that's great news, hope all goes well!
Sounds like #455 is being well looked after as ever. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the RS4-2's as I'm looking to get a set myself.
As for Wales, count me in (if it's the second half of 2016). I was gutted to miss...
