Ha, interesting. Funny that it's suspicious to get negative reviews but legit to get positive ones. Given up on him to be honest. I'm still in contact with trading standards so will be going down that route.
Haha love it!
Done the online reporting thing with trading standards so will see where that goes.
Might get the angle grinder out and get rid of the welds in a few weeks, try and get it back to standard. Anyone had an experience of these flange repair kit things? Obviously not these actual...
Think I mentioned them earlier but it was four winds garage - http://www.fourwindsgarage.com/
Trying to keep doing the right thing @Mr. Plums , I don't want it backfiring on me haha
True, I've got away quite cheaply when you look at it like that!
Spoken to citizens advice again and they said about writing a letter and going to court etc (sounds like too much hard work tbh). The bank said I can't get anything back without written proof of what I asked the garage for in the...
Update - Spoke to the owner (Mike) finally. He is still adamant it was fitted perfectly and they did the best job they could do. He said the welding is reversible as they could take it off again. I said to him that surely when the bloke had finished he looked at it and must have seen it was...
True, although ideally there wouldn't have been a problem at all.
So went to fit the yozza decat today but the garage have welded the milltek decat to centre section. Thought it was the white paste stuff but we filed it a bit and it was shiny. Just put it all back together and made it sit...
Went for a second opinion at an exhaust place and they agree the works crap and should take less than an hour. I need to go back tomorrow to speak to the boss to get it in writing. The worst part is one of the guys guessed the garage, which is mental considering the amount of places around here...
I know I know, I would never go to them normally but I just imagined a bigger corporate place would be better this time. I'll try a smaller garage then first!
Just spoke to trading standards first. They recommend getting a second opinion from a reputable garage, if they think it's bad to put it in writing and go back to the original garage asking for a refund. I guess kwikfit, ats etc are the reputable ones in this case?
According to the kid there, the decat is just over the top of the joint. If I undo the bracket and scrape out the white crap it should be easy to remove. Will take the car for a proper drive tomorrow to test it out. Not sure if I should take decat out ASAP or not, considering what I paid to have...
Got the car back home now and it's still obviously wonky and sticking out but doesn't seem to bounce over bumps anymore which is nice. Will call the garage tomorrow to try and get a refund but I'm not holding out too much hope. I'm not very good at complaining and getting money back!
Yeh there's a big round washer on there so should hold. I saw you can get flange repair things so if they're worth trying, I might do that.
Think I'll be doing the next one myself. Normally willing to give all these things a go but a bit short for time at the moment so thought this would be...
Some crappy sealant stuff they use that looks like they threw it on from 50 yards away. That mani to cat fitting kit was new in feb, surely they don't go that quick? Unless you mean something else.
I paid over the phone before I saw it, won't be doing that again!
So what's the best way of me...
No not agreed price. Possibly my fault again but I (stupidly) like to trust people.
Got in the pit with the guy working their and took some pics. He's hung it properly now so it's straight, just sticks out. He said they could cut it down etc etc but I wouldn't trust them anymore. Pics now...
Not much I don't believe. An error on my part but then I shouldn't be in the position. Will see what the guy has to say later and give him one chance to put it right
Hopefully the cats gone over the centre section joint...
UPDATE - Took it back this morning and explained I wasn't happy at all, he said he'd have a look on the ramps but "that's the problem with these aftermarket parts". Anyway, got to work and he called me saying the fitting looks perfect and...
I'm going to leave it with the garage again today and tell them to put it back to how it was before with my oe cat. It still works but it's got rusty and slightly broken flanges. I'll call you later if I'm stuck, cheers mate!
Garage was 4winds, near abingdon.
Yeh that looks like a much better fitting! I told them on the phone to not chop anything as I wanted it undo-able. Hopefully they haven't cut the centre section although looks like they may have
One of the later btm one's and it's a milltek decat. I did ask the garage to look to see if it'd work first before fitting hoping that if it obviously wouldn't fit they'd be professional and tell me no.
