I'm back from the dead to drop in and check Tony is ok! I was at Segrave when it happened, I've never seen a tank slapper at those speeds before!
Looked nice (and rapid) beforehand though...

Any thoughts of taking photos of anything outside my house and fallen by the wayside for the past month, all good fun though and the little Sony RX1 is just unreal...

The RX100 is expensive because the sensor is big, the lens is top notch and it's very well built. I follow a few guys on Flickr who use them, really lovely look from the photos.
If money is no object the Sony RX100 is top of the pile as far as compacts go, the original is £350 on Amazon, the newest version is double that.
The Panasonic LX7 would probably be next, about £280 on Amazon.
Been working towards this for quite some time...

Thrilled to bits, nearly all my shooting is at 35mm so to have a full-frame set-up that small makes me a very happy boy. It's so much smaller than I had expected and absolutely silent.
Lots: https://www.flickr.com/search/?w=43894860@N00&q=x-e1
Different sensor in the X-E1 vs the original X100, some prefer the colours from the X100 sensor but the differences are fairly minimal in my opinion.
Depends which lens you bolt onto the X-E1, but it's very similar to the X100 operationally and a fair bit quicker. The 23mm 1.4 or 35mm 1.4 on the X-E1 is in my opinion a better set-up than an X100 in terms of image quality, but you lose out on silent shooting, built-in ND filter and size.
Our Infinity was hanging around 0.5mb DL for ages recently (if it worked at all), I think possibly since adding a Synology NAS. Got fed up with the useless BT Customer Service and just bought an AirPort Extreme after doing a bit of research...the difference is unreal, gutted I didn't get one...
Some nice ideas that I would genuinely use. It will do the full fitness tracking thing without messing around with my phone, so useful for my cycling. Also the possibility of live view from my Sony a7 camera (my iPhone/iPad already has an App to livestream what my camera is doing, and then...
I know it's an obligatory cat photo, but I love this, finally captured our little one properly (usually puts a grumpy face on when the camera comes out, the answer was to use a 135mm lens and stalk him from the bushes!)

White Horse View by Harry_S, on Flickr
Not sure why but my photo stream has gone crazy lately, averaging 30k views per day and added about 70 followers since Friday.
Nothing too taxing, just need to make sure everything is set manually (shutter speed, aperture, WB, ISO etc), manually focus on the subject and shoot that, then fire away around the subject (a spiral is the easiest way to keep track of where you are) leaving all settings and focus exactly as...
My first shot at a Brenizer / Bokeh Panorama, hard to appreciate at this size but it looks amazing up close. 50 merged photos at 135mm 1.8 with the focus locked on the bike and nothing else, this ends up equivalent to a 43mm f0.5.

The X100 is an awesome camera, a lot of fun to use.
I had one briefly, but I had an X-E1 with a 35mm so it was overkill to have both, a few shots: https://www.flickr.com/search/?q=X100&w=43894860@N00

I crop quite aggressively, 420mm (300mm + 1.4tc) on a FF camera is a long, long way off being frame-filling for most stuff at airshows (your 500mm on crop is getting on for double the length).
Personally in terms of sharpness at the same price point I would rather shoot with something like a...
I've just been on there a long time so have built up a whole load of followers (350 I think), as soon as a photo goes up it gets 100+ views almost instantly and the just builds from there. I think my FoS set alone this year picked up another 30+ followers based on the number of email...
