I've been trying to get to grips with the Panasonic 100-300mm lately. It's tiny considering the ridiculous focal length, but the OIS works pretty well. I was pleased to capture these two...

The main drawback for me (being somebody who loves buying gear) is that full frame can be staggeringly expensive. To make proper use of it you need very good glass, this leads onto the second drawback for me, the lack of crop factor makes any sort of long reach very difficult to obtain without...
The idea behind the competition was to get people out there taking photos. It's not a 'browse your hard drive' contest, it's a photo taking contest. It's up to people how they interpret the theme.
What's your rough budget?
At £200ish a bridge is probably your best bet, Fuji HS30EXR for example gets excellent reviews and has all the zoom you need.
If it has to be a DSLR you could easily put together a second-hand kit for £300-400, e.g. On MPB Photographic you could buy a Canon 400D...
I did try full-frame briefly, glad to be back though. The system has grown so much in the past year. There is a Panasonic 150mm 2.8 due soon which will pretty much complete the system for me (that will be my primary motorsport lens).
Took the new Micro 4/3s gear out in the freezing/snowing weather today for an hour for my first motorsport event since July last year, pretty pleased with how it went...

Superb, the 75mm is genuinely the best lens I've ever owned (and that's a very long, very expensive list), but the 45mm is an absolute belter too, got mine second hand for £150, which I was very pleased with.
Unfortunately had further complications with my health and was back in hospital again...
You need to fax a request, they don't make it easy, who the hell has a fax machine?! I've emailed the seller asking where they got the photo from and asking them to remove the item so will see how that goes.
Anyone had any joy dealing with a stolen image before? Found this today...

Been trying my hand at a bit of bird photography lately, bloody hard work! Spotted some cool stuff (Kingfishers, Bullfinches etc) but far too quick for me. This little chap humoured me for a while though...

Good old DUF parked up on West Wilts Trading Estate yesterday afternoon (about 4:15) opposite my Mum's workplace (which is next to the race car prep place), looked pretty tidy.
Haven't seen it for about 6 years, took me right back!
Pro Camera Shop are quite aggressive with regards to getting negative reviews and forum posts removed, but there are still a number of horror stories on the web.
http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/ lists most reputable stores and their current prices. If you're finding places roughly 20%...
I wouldn't use them, grey imports so Nikon won't touch it if you have a problem, it would need to go back to SLR Hut. As with many importers it's not clear how they are so cheap (most incorrectly declare goods to evade taxes, which legally you are responsible for resolving)

It's a full Windows desktop install (20gb), plus recovery partition and built in stuff. You can remove the partition if you set up a separate bootable USB drive.
The useable space vs advertised space has never been a major issue before (iOS is pretty lean, and on a desktop 40gb is nothing these...
Welcome. I used The Garage in Trowbridge for work on my 172. Ex Platinum (Renault and Nissan) and the owner has a 200, so knew most things inside and out and could happily do a 172 cambelt in about 1/2 the time allocated by Renault dealership. a few guys at work use them as well and have never...
The beast I've been waiting for arrived yesterday (Olympus 75mm 1.8), so a quick 40 minute blast along the canal to test it out.
