Sounds like release bearing..... Mine lasted 100k miles until the bearings ran away and it all fell apart....

A whole standalone PC for file sharing is a little over kill. Either set a shared folder on one of the computers (requires it to be on for access) or if you need more space, purchase a USB hard drive and connect it to one of the computers and map that as a shared drive.

The stub axle is tapered at the end so without the washer when it is tightened the bearing is forced apart. This usually results in premature failure and the inner race seizing on the stub

Sounds like either spacer is missing or the went FT when doing them up and over tightened

Can't say a release bearing noise was that loud but certainly would say that is what it is

What you torque them too ?

Engine dynamics do them but with a couple more bits. I been running one for last 5k miles without and issue

Need to get me a Yanoo shift kit, replaces the normal nylon bush with a metal one. Completely tightens up the shifter

Mine done this even after I changed the rack bushings. A lot of people have the same issue, can be caused by bushings not being done up tight. Did mine up with an impact gun but once I re checked it with an breaker bar there was another quarter turn

I got some FK 20mm spacers. Haven't got round to fitting them but personally I don't see how the inner ring can snap as the load is taken via the bolts ...

I have 20mm FK front spacers with MAPS stud kit on the front and PMS 10mm Rear stub axle spacers for the rear..

Got a set that have just been blasted. Now I'm not sure how to go the right way about it. Should I get the calipers rebuilt first with all new seals and then powder coated or vice versa. I heard that when powder coated they are baked so will damage all the seals inside, yet I know some places...
