Been at Oulton Park today and was speaking to a guy who used to compete in the clio cup, he mentioned getting a megane keyed pulley fitted when getting the cambelt done.
The car will get a hammering on track so he said 100% do it. Also could somebody tell me what the part number is , i will be...
Im tempted for a 240i as a daily if the prices go back to normal ! They are still far to high most of them !
Was considering an M4 but for the spec i want and for just a daily that will spend most its time on the drive i cant really justify it , im sure a 240i will give me enough fun and i...
Removed the bumper for access to the linkage. I must admit the bumper doesnt fit very well but i think thats down to the air ducts from the fog lights and the grille not being attached to a crash panel.
I will have to see if it can be improved in anyway.
I do have a spare bumper i could use...
Saturday was planned for doing abit on the white clio but i wanted to get it out the garage. I didnt appear to have reverse on the car so i needed to get it jacked up and adjusted.
My was was to select reverse and use a cable tie to try keep it in place while i went underneath and re-attached...
Had the same issue as the white car with the alternator not charging due to some powder coat on the face of the mount which bolts upto the engine block.
I was experiencing starting issues , was hit and miss about starting so i had alook at all my earthing points and the white plug of death. Also replaced the postive terminal with a new one from renault. I do have a relocation kit in the car but was just trying to get it starting from the usual...
Wow didnt realise i hadnt really updated since october. Struggled to get anytime on the clio's as my daiky required work for the mot so 2 of my saturdays were allocated for sorting that out to keep me on the road for another year.
Hi , does anybody have some of these in there spares or know where i can ge 2 from ?
I broke 2 on removal and trying to reinstall this. Ive had a look on ebay and a fastener website but cant find this particular one.
Yeah it was bugging me the alternator but being a renault always be something. Hopefully can just push on now as that was not giving me motivation to get it finished
Jobs to do !
Exhaust centre bracket mount hole needs repairing.
Rear cage plates need modifying to suit my cage.
Harnesses to be fitted
Wire in Epas
Fit wipers
Fir steering wheel
Swap alloys from red clio
Install cd player
Install door cards
As it currently looks , thinking of getting the 182 wheels refurbished as i do think they suit the 182 but i do have ideas for some aftermarket wheels.
Front door looms fitted and rubber trims on drivers side. Not sure where i have put the passenger one 🤔. Can you still buy these if not ?
Anyone know what the part codes are ?
Found the engine cover that came with the car. Dont think that will be going back on !
Time to re-install the flocked dash and start putting the dash back together.
Still not 100% sure how much of an interior is going to go back in this !
Note the dodgy steering wheel, only installed for...
Quick latches fitted , these could have done with being ever so slightly longer but maybe i can look into this again.
Didnt take a pic of the rear with them actaually fitted 🙈🙈
First job was to fit the rear boot latches. I have already fitted these to the front of the car, expensive for what they are but if the Aston martin race team use them on there cars the quality should be there in comparison to the cheap chinese ones on ebay.
Not alot of time spent on this today as i needed to go the bank and i had to jack the red clio up and adjust the gear linkage to get reverse before i could drive this out the garage.
First time they have been both outside. The white clio has been in a garage since 2014 by previous owner as...
Rob it does, i looked into this , i depinned it from the block. And cleaned up with contact cleaner and a file.
I think i need to put some form of water resistant to stop them corroding.
I need to make a list of jobs that need sorting !
Rear boot catches to be fitted
Exhaust centre bracket mount hole needs repairing.
Rear cage plates need modifying to suit my cage.
Harnesses to be fitted
Gearbox linkage needs adjusting
Wire in Epas
Fit wipers
Fir steering wheel
Swap alloys...
All sorted now after numerous checks and advice from some of the guys on here.
Bad earthing due to powder coat on the face which bolts to the blocks !
We can progress with the build and hopefully get it on the road in march is the aim 🤞.
Not a massive amount of progress ! I noticed my alternator wasnt charging prior to going for paint so needed to investigate.
Removed alternator and got it checked before i did anything as i bought this off a member.
Alternator was checked and all good so further investigation needed.
Good call , removed alternator and brackets and the comtact faces to the block had powder coat on them ! Removed this and refitted everything. Had solid red immobiliser fault then 🙈.
Disconnected white plug of death and reconnected and all good !
Any ideas on thw white plug of death , ive...
Yes i will take a look at this as both alternators were giving same symptoms so you would think it could be this so Worth a check.
I will kick myself if it is something like this but either way just want to get it resolved.
Yes i need to check all the cabling as i wasnt expecting a voltage at the casing from the negative of battery which got me thinking is the diode pack shorting unless as you say a positive is touching which would be odd but could be possible.
Rob , the alternator is not a new one i have 2 x second hand ones i bought from forum members with cup brackets. The white car starts but i only get 12.6 v at battery while running. Ive checked the output at alternator and dont get anything , also noticed i dont get the battery light...
