My 182 has developed a massive pas leak. The rack is dry, the low pressure lines are dry and what I can see of the high pressure line is dry, but it has emptied the reservoir and put a huge puddle on the drive, and the gearbox is literally dripping in pas fluid.
any suggestions of the best...
Much gap due to covid and holidays to recover.
a very badly photographed KTEC /Janspeed exhaust replaced the miltek that I could not get to miss the bumper.
Unfortunately it has been all French since then..
Headlight washers died, it has developed a low revs/high load miss, and dumped all...
The dashtop got the same treatment, but it is also out so I can run some cables for tunes.
current state of play:
Hopefully that will be an upgrade on the tuner list.
I fitted a new roof mount dab antenna (no pics, sorry) and ran the cables down the side trim to the front. Hopefully tomorrow...
I haven’t stopped work, but I have neglected some photos
I have reseated the drivers door card with butyl rope and put some rtv behind the boot grommets. That has cured the two leaks I found in the recent heavy rain.
I have done some cosmetic work:
cup spoiler prep for paint:
Remove disc...
Repairing cup brake light:
Can’t imagine why the resistors were not working…
So near. One led seems to be dead, so replacements are on their way.
The plastics have been cleaned up and some small cracks glued. Spoiler repairs to follow.
Thanks for the detailed writeup! That’s a great idea.
Fortunately, since I fitted the Grams inserts in the rear mounts, the offset holes have let me level the exhaust perfectly, it’s sideways movement I need. It sat perfectly when I set it, but then drifted to the right until it touches the...
It’s part of the plan. My fun car has to be civilised enough for my wife not to hate it. 😂
I need to sort the exhaust resonance and get the aircon working, but keep it under 4K revs and it’s properly comfortable and docile. That’s part of the attraction! The light clutch is a bonus I didn’t...
My clio 182 came with the standard sagging rear exhaust. (Milltek) it sat low and crooked but central to the bumper cutouts.
I replaced the mounts with Grams 3d printed ones and lined it up really nicely in the centre of the bumper cutouts and level, but it has migrated right in driving till it...
It’s back:
Now idling well and driving beautifully.
New aux belt, tensioner and water pump fitted and a new clutch. Chris educated me that it wasn’t supposed to be that heavy.
Both the clutch and my wallet are MUCH lighter, but progress is progress.
Updates this week are mixed.
Obligatory first fll shot:
and on to Beaniesport near Bedford.
still like the way it drives but it was obviously down on power quite a bit. Non. Working aircon was a killer. ☹️
Arrived for some TLC:
The conclusion was that the timing belt is definitely new, as...
Stuck a bit in a waiting pattern. The car is booked in with Beaniesport to try and sort the lumpy idle/low revs running.
and I’m trying to source some round wheels (a novel idea) to put new tyres onto, without having to splash out on a full refurb, so I’m in a bit of a holding pattern
it has...
Wow!
thanks all for your input. If it helps, this is what it idles like cold:
Hot idle is worse, it will pretty much dies any time you dip the clutch if the revs fall.
the coil is not Valeo, it’s Cambiare, but it’s certainly no worse than the old one.
I have given in and booked it in with...
Oh and it did my favourite French car trick. Drive to the MOT garage is less than 15 mins. A sidelight bulb blew between home and the garage. How do they know to do that? 😜😂
I’ll just leave this here…
First time I have ever driven it over 10m or 3 mph! It actually drives pretty well. The tyres are comically bad (budget to start with and about 6 years old) and it’s a pain to manoeuvre, because it stalls if you glance at it the wrong way but the major jobs list is...
So my recently acquired 182 runs lumpy at idle and low revs.
The PO bought it as a project and then it sat in his shed for a few years. Apparently when he bought it, it ran ok apart from the dephaser being shot. This year he stuck an exhaust on it and got the belts, dephaser and tensioners...
Today I sorted the exhaust.
Started here:
Caused by:
Did a bit of this:
Added a couple of these:
Not perfect but:
Sorted the loose heat shield too with a couple of huge stainless steel washers. Not rattling anymore…
im going to put a couple of tyres on it and see if it will pass an mot…
So today I completed the planned engine work:
new plugs (correct Ngk), leads (beru), and coil (canbriaire)
Is it grateful?
NO. Still lumpy on idle. The old plugs looked new but sooty as well.
No error codes but when idling, values are as follows:
manifold pressure is around 620mb at idle...
Perfect. Thanks. That confirms my suspicion that the inner sheet of metal was bent over 90degrees. I thought it must be.
After some hammer&dolly/vice/pliers action, mine now look 70% like that too. 😂😁
Changing the injectors today I noticed the fuel rail feed connector appears to have space for 2 o-rings but only one is fitted.
is that correct or am I missing an o-ring?
To cheer myself up I did some tidying in the boot area.
From:
To:
Much better.
Discovered that if you plug the rear wiper and locking motor in, they work better! 😝
So today I was trying to cure the miss at idle and low revs. I thought, given the car looked to be intact original injectors I would do injectors first so:
out with the old:
And in with the new:
no change, (pain but i was going to do injectors anyway given the age and mileage) so started...
Rain stopped play today, but a few steps forward:
From:
And:

Interior is back together after looking for the passenger side rust.
hazard warning switch is replaced.
I think that it might actually be mot-able…
Can an old key be coded out on a Clio 182?
the PO if my project clio ‘forgot’ to bring the spare key when he delivered the car. He was a small time trader so name not in the logbook and I only have details of the unit he used where he is no longer to be found…
the car is not worth much but I’m...
