Haha! Well If you look at your setup there, and use logic to work out how camber is adjusted with these then the pics show you with pretty big camber but the mounts set to minimum camber so it must have been the slotted bolts holes dialing in the negative there :)
Thanks for the help buddy.
The top pic, in my mind on how these work, is actually the minimum camber setting as the three bolts there would set the strut to be as vertical as possible, and for negative camber you want the bolts to be on the outside of the engine bay.
Thanks for the info f0xy. Northy on WC has been asking...
Can I just ask, have you tried to compress the piston downward so the plates meet? Try that. I am sure that looks correct. You should not be missing the top hat plate that sits on the lip of the piston itself, it will cause problems if you leave it off.
With my AVO's, if you have them off the...
Well, it'll be cold but probably a good day to wax/clay etc.
I'm doing oil and filter change and doing my waterpump and swapping power steering pump tomorrow and investigating a slight rattle, but I suspect it's the PS pump doing that.
The joys of old Clio ownership!
Lol, sorry I am normally the first to flash/wave but my brain is a bit slow today and it didn't click until too late :D
Looks like you have been busy keeping the winter crap off the car, unlike me! Looked really clean. I've only recently moved back to the area from Southampton. I don't have the...
I was in my Williams 1 with my granny as passenger, just popping into Locks Heath centre.
I only saw the 'thumbs-up' gesture a bit late or I would have done the same :)
Nice car. Mine needs a good clean :(
Fun thread :)
With regards the OP, it really depends on what you want from a car and whether you are prepared to get your hands dirty or not.
172 will likely be a bit fresher, whereas the Williams is the drivers choice.
Every single Renault hot hatch I've driven has been really good fun, from...
If you know your car history, the Williams is Legendary.
Valvers are a great car too, powerband is different, they need to rev hard to get the torque flowing. The handling is good, but the Williams is amazing.
Nice upgrades, sounds like you have caught the bug. I'll have to keep an eye out for you about town :D Beep if you see a dirty old Williams 1 !!
Can't believe pikeys stole your aerial! Was probably Justin :D
I was cruising home nursing some strange noises from my engine after a hard day driving on the Pistonheads meet. Had some Xenons appear behind me matching my pace. Had some moments of overtaking slow traffic, they kept up well. Came off at Eastleigh roundabout. Anyone we know?
You can tell what sort is at fault (if anything) by the type of smell. Engine oil, coolant, and transmission fluid all have a different smell. Crapped up leaking coolant is common and could possibly be thought of as electrical burning smell. It could just be where we have had wet unusual wether...
Have you checked the fuel lines? Get the car started so the fuel system is pressurised and have a really good check over, tracking the fuel feed, and the return hose from tank to filter to engine.
I was running about 19 mpg in the Williams until this weekend when I one of my lines finally gave...
It is frustrating, yea :(
It sounded like a BE problem, but it's always good to check other things first.
Hard call on what do to. It depends on your experience. If you can locate a good engine and swap it over, and have the tools for such a job and some know-how/help that's probably easier...
Does the car feel underpowered throughout the rev range?
Do the most obvious and easiest visual checks on the car first, check oil, coolant etc.
See if anything has come loose, could be an easy fix. If nothing...

I am not saying young drivers are necessarily bad driver's, just they are often falsely comforted by gizmo's through no fault of their own and often don't know any better.
I hope you noted my apology of what could be construed as generalising young people.
The worst driving I see is usually...
Theres a Williams '2', but not a Mk2. I've seen a Mk2 with stickers and gold alloys, in dark blue before. It was quite tastefully done but it's not a Williams.
I almost bought an Abarth Uno Turbo once. Decided against it as I thought the R5 was a better offer at the time. Uno was fun though.
I have not said you were a crap driver. I've not made any objective criticism about you personally, merely a hypothetical subjective question about your own...
Hmm, I think we have our wires crossed. Let me start again.
My point here is that modern driver aids are not necessarily helping the ever growing number of drivers actually be good drivers, and in fact are giving drivers a false sense of security and ability.
How many people do you personally...
That's fair enough mate. I am only giving over a point of view for the sake of creating a good debate, which it has done. The terms I have used are there to stimulate even reluctant posters like yourself to comment.
I think from some of the posts here, especially older drivers, there has been...
How do you find the rear wheel drive in these conditions? I have only ever driven one rear wheeler in snow/ice before bringing a RX7 over from Holland years ago and that was a bit of an event.
Or maybe you don't like what's being said when you reflect on your own skill as a driver?
About me: I've owned some really great new cars and loved most of them. I used to import Japanese performance cars as a business and supplied rally teams and enthusiasts with cars, along with supplying...
