I did 500 miles with mine this weekend and I love it. Certainly hasn't harmed performance at all but the noise is so so so much better. Sounds pure Scooby when you floor it through 2500 to about 3500.

I found the 197 to be more planted and more confidence inspiring even though the 172 gives more feedback. Straight line speed there is basically no difference.

My offside drive shaft was knackered. I had 330 miles to drive to get home. I tried to get an OE one but time was not on my side. I fitted one made by 'European Bearing Technologies'. Anyway, the car drives okay except for a resonance at high revs and in second gear it knocks quite loudly...
It turns out it was the offside drive shaft. The boot had split and by the time I changed it there were no ball bearings and splines left on one of the three bits that goes inside the gearbox.
When I accelerate through the gears, it's fine until I get to third gear from about 4-5k rpm. The whole car shakes noticeably. It's not wheel balance as the steering wheel doesn't shake.

I had a wheel bearing go. It was definitely on the the left hand side. Had the front changed but there was still a slight drone. Turns out the back had gone at the same time!

Cba drilling anymore. Thank god the abs cable had a break point half way because the head on the screw on the sensor rounded. I'll drop it off somewhere tomorrow and hopefully refit everything tomorrow.
