Very pleased with the way it went, should fit into the rear of the Clio shell nicely. Strut top will be braced to the side of the bodyshell, have a strut brace fitted, and probably linked in to the roll cage too. Depends how heavy it will make it!

Arrived at the garage today to find quite a surprise awaiting me.
Somebody has taken the idea a stage further, and bolted a Subaru front wing onto the Clio, and tie-wrapped a Hawkeye headlamp in place. Must admit, it looks quite good.
If I hadn't already ordered my V6 bodykit, I might have...
Slightly disappointing day at the garage today, made a start at removing the rear beam and suspension. Dampers came off fine, but had problems with the two forward beam mounting bolts. Both spun when I tried to remove them. Going to have to get the old die grinder in there and wazz the nuts off...
Depends where you are in the country. Down here we are allowed spotlamps, but they are banned in the West Mercia Police area, and one or two others, I believe.
Don't forget the T16 was transverse engined. It would be a much more difficult conversion to do and make four wheel drive using Scooby running gear. Would be easy using the Scooby engine and box as just rear wheel drive, but that's not what I'm after.
Off to the garage to do a bit more today...
Going to graft in the front bulkhead and transmission tunnel from the Scoob to the clio floorpan. At the back the entire clio floorpan/boot area to be removed and fit the Scooby chassis rails to mount the rear diff and suspension.
Nah, day off today, p*ssing about on here instead!
(Incidentally, my "day" job is driving HGVs for a dairy, so I'm at work by 3.30am, and finished by 10.30am, so some days I'm down at the garage, other days I need a sleep!)
Thanks for the positive feedback, guys, I was worried that the dyed in the wool "polish it and love it" Clio enthusiasts might have flamed me for even thinking of such a thing! Wouldn't make any difference, mind you!
Someone asked for some rally photos of the car, so here's one I have.
Cheers Ben! Welcome to take a peek anytime. You can see all the other crazy projects. At the moment we have a Hawk Stratos kit being built, the two V Storms, A RS200 replica having a Scooby engine and box conversion, plus a Mk4 Escort Estate being "G3d" to RWD with a Zetec in the front! Same guy...
Thanks for the great comments, much appreciated.
I've not completely dismissed the idea of putting it back on the road, so I will leave provision for refitting lights, but of course it would have to be IVA tested, which isn't cheap these days!
Then had a dummy run to see how the Scooby lump would fit. Although I couldn't lower the shell right down, due to the fact that there is no transmission tunnel in the Clio yet, I am really delighted at just how well it all fits. Looks like a straightforward job to fabricate the front end, using...
Just realised I should have given the eventual proposed power output, looking at about 320/330 from this engine, but wh oknows how much later if the bank balance will stand it!
These mods mean the car will now run in the Sports Libre Category in the hillclimbs and sprints, so will be up against...
I'd better give you an idea of the current proposed spec, plus the updates that will happen as funds allow........
Initially the engine and box is from a JDM WRX, and has a TD05 turbo, decat and 3" exhaust. Should be around 260BHP. Eventually we will change the injectors, fit Simtek management...
