As with all things, you get what you pay for. If it seems to cheap, it will be crap is my motto.
Made the mistake of buying a pair of Black Diamond front discs for my 172 when I first had it, because I was hard up at the time.
One road rally later they were in the bin! Got hot, and warped.
As was mentioned on the first page, I too made my own. Made a couple of bits of 1" box section to fit across the undertray mount holes at the front and rear, then got a mate to cut and bend a sheet of 3mm sheet steel, which was welded on under the box. Cost me £20, and survived an awful lot of...
Been a bit busy on other stuff this week, but more stuff has been ordered and arrived, firstly the water hoses,
Quick dummy build on that to make sure the lengths are right,
And finally, THE WHEELS HAVE ARRIVED MMMMMMMMM!!!!
Nice new 9x17 Rota Grids, fresh from our friends at Rare Rims.
Hi Chip. OBP do a universal kit car version of that pedal box (mine is Subaru specific) which should do the trick for you. Try Nick at Rallynuts when you're ready, he's been a great help to me.
Thank you. Workshop belongs to my pal Jase, without whom I couldn't have even started the Cliopreza. Have a look at his website, http://www.scoobybits.co.uk to see all the other daft things that go on here. Particularly, click on the V Storm kit car section. Amazing piece of kit!
Gravel Express, affectionately known as Bruce, is being converted from a wagon to a van. You may even see him towing the Cliopreza on the odd occasion next year.
The actual definition of P0440 is:
"Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction"
So I think you are on the right track with looking at the carbon canister system.
If the canister was unplugged when you got the car and you have plugged it back in, did you check that the tube wasn't blocked...
Right, stand by for a veritable photo fest from today's antics. We have a journalist from a kit car mag arriving tomorrow, so today has seen a flurry of activity to get the dummy build to a point where he can take lots of photos.
Apologies that the rear arches aren't bolted down to the rear...
More shiny bits arriving on a daily basis now. Brake and clutch reservoirs from OBP, complete with a very sexy ready made bracket at a price which I could not refuse. Couldn't really make on for that price.
As you can see, I have been welding up all the redundant holes in the bulkhead...
I've done exactly this on my Subareno Cliopreza. It's quite involved to put the front pick ups in. As said above, you need a hole for the tubes to go through to the top mounts.
Tack the horizontal bars in place first, without the main front roll cage bar in place.
Tack in the diagonal bars to...
A couple more pictures of new shiny bits!
OBP bias pedal box temporarily shoved into place
Plus a nice sexy cover to hide it all away (protective film still in place, shiny aluminium underneath)
I notice most of the posts in this thread are giving some very valuable advice on the type of car you could build/buy.
May I give you some advice regarding your choice of hobby.
As you have never raced a car before, may I suggest you start by looking on the MSA website, and joining a motor club...
Some more progress to report. Been making fittings to support the headlights, which are mounted on the front subframe.
Looks quite amusing with the front panels off!
Very pleased with the mesh I have fitted to the tailgate. Managed to get the contours nicely.
Finally for now, have been...
More fabrication work going on. Mounted the fans on the radiator, and fixed the top mountings in place.
Looking like it's meant to fit there now. Or, as someone said on facebook, giant sub looking good!
Front lights roughly in place. Looking a bit like a car at last!
