I say they're better (even though they were 2008 tyres, and used) the car felt way more stable on them, but i got a fair bit of traffic during my "fast" stint on them, so not 100% on lap times, price on new ones rules them out though unfortunately, 50% more per tyre over the dunlops :(
nope, to stop the pads rattling in the calipers (only an issue at slow speed) ie if you reverse and hit the brakes you'll get a clunk, go forwards again, clunk
people forget that materials expand when hot, if the pads JUST fit when cold, they'll bind in the caliper when red hot = crumbled edges...
