Yeah the plenium has been bolted to the engine as it came with the engine I am using. That's not a problem the only reason it is not on the engine at the mo is the fact that I can't close the bonnet with it on. So am awaiting my new 16v humped bonnet (Don't like these but it's the only way...
Well done some more rocker still needs a clean but at the mo just wanting it in and running. (awaiting an R5 16v humped bonnet as i can't close the bonnet with the inlet plenium on)
standard 172 rad and fan (tight fit) I think a slim line fan might be in order
Not to much to go now spent tonight doing the following:
1) Fitting the driveshafts on both sides,
2) Modifying my powerflow sidey to match the 172 modified ex manifold,
3) Filled gearbox with oil,
4) Filled engine with Mobil 1,
5) Fitted clutch cable,
6) Fitted accelerator cable (what a...
Thought I had it all sorted when the gearbox was in the car but it turned out I did have to remove it all and put it together out of the car now all back in and mated up properly, just drive shafts, exhaust d/p, wiring, bonnet to do.
Should hopefully be up and running in N/A form in Jan

We have fun we upgrade and we re-build thats were all the fun is, you love it then you hate it (the car that is). This is how you learn and knowledge is power, plenty of peeps on here and other forums boast about tuners doing this tuners (not saying anything wrong with tuners) doing that but...
Gearbox was still in the car so engine was going to mate up with it, sorted now left 1 of the locating studs on the GTT box all good now:)
There's not much space:lolup: (Excuse the state of the rocker cover and fuel rail cover)
Very impressive figures Ashy my 5 used twice the boost to make that bhp figure LOL wish I could see the vid but can't view youtube @ work will have a look tonight though.
Well managd to get the phase 2 plenium drilled and tapped tonight so it would accept the phase 1 Cable TB. Ended up haveing to drill 3 holes as the could only get 1 in (no worries it's all on with new gasket aswell). Off the engine stand aswell now on the crane in the shed ready to go in the car...
Well engine is pretty much ready to go into the R5 pending me drilling and tapping the inlet plenium to accept the phase 1 172 TB. (Need to buy a new drill bit as can only find knackered ones:(
Ashy you are a star I am just being lazy and couldn't be arsed to drill and tap but it's probably the simplest and easiest way to do it.
(Update pic please ignore the fuel rail cover as that will not be staying, only on to protect it when we get it out of the shed)
been playing with the engine tonight got the phase 1 172 loom attached to the engine and attempted to change over the throttle body from the fly by to the cable version only to find that my cable throttle body does not fit???? Does the phase 1 inlet plenum have a bigger throttle body than a...
