I will get one of these ICV's and just drill and tap the plenium as necessary also looks like my 044 fuel pump is knackered just checked the fuel line to the rail and nothing:( strange it was working ok the other day
LOL just purchased another C1J lump to rebuild to my old engine spec just in case I don't like the 172 LOL
Apparently the 172 phase 1 setup has an Idle Control Valve? This i know I am missing so could also be my problem
I am using a phase 2 172 engine that I have converted to phase 1 setup, so I have a phase 2 plenium that has I have converted to take the ctb , so I need an idle control valve anyone got a pic or a part number for one of these or know any other Renault model these are on
Hello Ivan been a long time no speak matey, No am using a volvo T5 3bar fpr regulator and a cossie 044 fuel pump.
But then the T5 fpr could be knackered how do you test these things?
Just gone to fire up my 172 / 182 conversion for the 1st time, but doesn't hold idle see video attached any idea's? She is defo getting fuel to the rail and obviously sparkies are firing aswell. what controls the idle on this engines?

Still not got a starter sorted been let down by what I hope is the postey and not a the fellow member so now trying to source else where. So in the meantime I spent the last couple of evening undersealing the car and I ended up spraying the underside of each arch Hamerite silver.

It's the only way to get the F4r lump in due to it being much taller than the original C1J. Not my cup of tea either hopefully will look better when sprayed tungy.

My understanding is the 172 / 182 are F4r blocks that it is slightly smaller than the 197 block F4a something to do with the gearbox pattern / fitting being totally different hence not being able to fit a JC5 box to the block without modification to the block I believe is the same block is in...

This is a simple query but not having ever seen a 172 / 182 starter setup I am in need to know where the starter motor locating dowel goes or if it uses 1.
If you have pictures please post them up.

Well tried the new starter which worked fine but it just wouldn't catch the flywheel to turn it over (New starter is an R5 GTT uprated version which is a laguna jobby) looks like I am going to have to source an proper 172 / 182 starter.
tried with the spacer bush in different places aswell made...
I am using pearl engine mounts on the standard GTT rear bracket and the gearbox front, and on the engine front I am using an R5 GTX bracket which is and F series block similair to the f4r. You would use the same bracket for an F7p conversion into an R5 aswell

Ok I am after a little problem with reference to an electrical problem I am having. Here goes why would my positve cables register as negatives? What could cause it?
