Blackpool has always been a bad place to go for Cliosport, I've not heard a single member say a good thing about it and rightly so tbh.
With regards to travelling I've never had an issue with heading to Warrington/Manchester/Chester areas in fact I preferred it...
I had Sabelts in mine and although they were fantastic nobody could work out how to adjust them so I'd have to give a 5 minute lecture before setting off with someone else in the car with me.
Those Scroths Sam linked look like they would be a lot easier to adjust.
I'm pretty sure I've installed Windows 7 64bit over a windows vista 32bit before and not lost any data.
It asks you what you want to do before you install it. Just make sure you don't click the wrong thing.
I used to use these, worked great, like having a wired connection.
I had some Netgear ones and they kept blowing up so I had to take them back twice. Luckily they were still within the 12 month warranty and PC World did a simple exchange both times.
The third ones have worked fine for over 12...

It's worth travelling to get the job done right first time.
There should be a cover that you can remove which should be held down by no more than about two screws to reveal your RAM and possibly the HDD.
You'd have to upgrade to Windows 7 64bit because the OS you have now can't utilise anymore than 3.2gb of RAM.
Have you driven without one? I imagine it will give a firmer feel which I like the sound of tbh. I always found even with an upgraded OEM setup it still felt a bit soft for me.

With regards to power won't it get more as the engine loosens up? I remember the 197's with <10k miles on ran low power but seemed to creep up with mileage.
