I will have my 172 Cup engine for sale in the next few days. 122,000 full service history.
Belt/dephaser need doing. Genuine/untouched engine. No gasket leaks or anything.
Just be careful with the garage that's selling it, it's changed names quite a few times. I don't know if it's the same owners now, but it was a father and son running it.
Good to see more progress!
Jumping back a little, how easy was the fuel filler pipe to remove and refit?
It's a job I need to do as a preventive of rust.
Favourite thread on here, I want my Cup to go down a similar direction.
Subscribed.
Cheers
I've just read this thread. Nice little read.
I had a Transit Connect as a daily while building my house, I've just sold it though with typical a typical Ford being rotten.
I'm on the look out for another van I think. Just love cheap daily motoring..! No care if someone opens the door into a...
The engine is already out now.
My thoughts are to get rid of the PAS too. So I'll probably be going down the EPAS or looped rack idea.
Back on topic lol. Even if the gains are minimal with the 182 manifold, it's the access to the cat bolts that are appealing to me. The 172 manifold cat bolts...
Afternoon all,
I know the title is probably enough to make people roll their eyes. But it's a slightly different questions, I think..
So, I have removed the engine from my 172 Cup track car.
While the engine is out, is the 182 exhaust manifold a worthwhile mod? Or do I just leave the 172...

Last push today to get things done.
Engine/gearbox is ready to come out!
It would have come out today, but I am still waiting on the hoist.
Once the engine is out, the car will be going back onto 4 wheels so it's a rolling shell again. I can push the car out to power wash the...
Cheers for the replies.
This is my first time having a pure project car, my old ph1 was my daily too, so there was always the stress of having to get it ready for the work commute, which put a lot of stress into the upgrading of parts and general maintenance things.
I've found I'm enjoying...
Cheers buddy :)
I feel like I've learned a lot more already.
I have knowledge about the F4R engine from my Ph1 and 200, but I'm enjoying applying that knowledge (and lack of) into being completely hands on with the car.
I have an idea of what I want the finished product to be. So it's just...

Another update.
So carried on with stripping the ancillaries off the Cup today. Another good day.
If any of you are wondering, this whole thing is pretty new to me, with doing the car alone.
I've always had help or been the 'pass me the...' kind of man. So I'm a little bit in the...
Quick question for anyone who's familiar with stripping these cars.
Acoustic valve - any advice/tips to removing it? Does it set off any lights on the dash if it's removed. Can someone confirm from the picture above, If that is the acoustic valve?
Carbon canister- I remember removing it on...
Update 22.12.2017
Decided to get cracking with the car, the sooner the engine/box comes out, the better. Gives me more time to get the car how I want it
Started off this morning..
Started labelling up the loom, so I know what every plug does - what has use and what doesn't.
Little...
I've had a good day working on my 172 Cup project too.
Just labelled up all the loom plugs, ready for removal - I know what's in use and what's not then.
