So, at last an update! Primarily because I've been too lazy and have much preferred to drive the damn thing!
In short, I've missed this car. A lot. Currently spent just shy of £250 in fuel, covered 650 miles after tonight's 60 mile 'random drive' in less than 5 days. A trip to Mallory Park race...
Yeah, given it'll be nicer to drive than it currently is with softer suspension. It's probably cheaper for me to drive/insure the car than buy a tow car, insurance, trailer and trailer license.
Haven't really worked it out, might do a deep down list of everything (including stuff I already have) to show how much it'll cost from start to finish.
If I'm slower than someone (which is probably going to the case) then I'll spend more time playing with geometry and becoming a better driver. I wont be moaning, unless someone is quite clearly quicker than me/the field on the straights...
Success Ballast? Have you not read a single thing Tony has said? To add the option of using success ballast is another completely unneeded expense... Its aimed to be a fun, cheap entry into motorsport, people aren't racing for cash/sponsorship etc.
Yes you will Adam, its been missed off in this thread. Think its called the AMB 250 or something like that that Tony has. Tbh with you, its probably easier to spend out and buy a new/second hand one as they dont depreciate in value really. So you'll save money in the long run.
Also go for a...
8-10 I think, coupled with the rest or the French series so that we have our own race. If not then we'll be out back in with the Nippon Challenge series.
Lol. Cheers dude! ;)
I've always wanted to race, but have either fallen short of cash at the time or been fucked about by going racing in pairs.
This series is cheap, and I can actually sell bits off my car to standardise it and have money in my pocket so its win win in my eyes. Plus its more...
Also, solid engine mounts? Not a necessity but they don't provide any speed benefit over standards so if you have them fitted it should be a problem right?
So after a little chat with Mr Hunter, i'll be converting the Cup into the proposed 'production/standard' spec for the French Track Attack series. Here's an outline of the spec that'll be eligible to race....
Safety Gear -
Roll Cage (Sorted)
Fire Extinguisher (Got but not fitted)
Cut Off...
I wont be bothered about these myself, as purely they'll make naff all difference. The EPAS on the other hand, if mine breaks I think it should be a suitable replacement.
So, yep I'm definitely going to get my car to this new 'production' spec for the French Track Attack series after just having a little chat with Mr Hunter a moment ago. My 'Go Racing' pack has been ordered, and I'll actually make an effort to get the safety bits fitted that I have in the shed! lol
I'd be a fan of premium road tyres tbh, at least if they get ruined it cheaper than ruining cut slick outer shoulders every session which will cost a fortune.
Only downside to this is in reality this class will be tragically slow in comparison to what's currently running in the French Track...
It would then mean having a certain rolling roads to prove power, and then having people making plans to add further weight.
Reckon the regs should be set like the Mazda series or whatever its called personally.
Having chatted about it yesterday with Tony, I'd be possibly interested. Though I'd have to 'standardise' my car to suit regs which isn't the end of the world, but would I bother when I could just run with the better class cars in Track Attack?
Probably not.
