My mildly modified 172:
No pictures of it on track I'm afraid until Bedford in a fee weeks but spec wise:
RS2/421 powered F4R producing 196hp (Thanks to RS Tuning)
Cup aux setup (soon to be upgraded)
BC Coilovers on uprated springs
PMS Race exhaust system
PMS front strut brace and spherical...
That's normal though and the cooling fans should kick in around 98-105°c IIRC on the X65 but that is in our UK "moderate" climate.
Is the heater blowing hot or cold air?
Re: CAMBELT SERVICE, CORRECT TOOLS BUT CAMS KEEP OUT OF TIME BY VALVE SPRINGS FORCE!!
That's another argument and why I was up at 3am this morning... customers!
Re: CAMBELT SERVICE, CORRECT TOOLS BUT CAMS KEEP OUT OF TIME BY VALVE SPRINGS FORCE!!
"Scaremongering" is what some people call it when we emphasis the importance of using the correct tools
Re: CAMBELT SERVICE, CORRECT TOOLS BUT CAMS KEEP OUT OF TIME BY VALVE SPRINGS FORCE!!
Nothing to be scared of providing it's done right with the correct tools.
You will have either a Key or UCH fault... my first guess is the key itself but it really needs looking at and diagnosing correctly before you spend any money on bits
okay, some information for you...
When a "crash" or "impact" is detected by the SRS ECU it can trigger various components as it deems fit based on the impact detected. A "crash" to the SRS ECU can be anything from a hard bump from a pot hole or clipping of a curb to a full on accident with...
My missus likes being nailed in confined spaces and it turns out the 172/182 is also a pretty fun car to drive! #Ding-Dong
They're cheap to run, fairly cheap and easy to maintain, fairly apealing still to the eye and for sub £1200 you won't really find a car that does everything as well as...
Firsty, check the drains are actually draining (front wheel arch liners out and make sure the silly end flap isn't silted up and that water is flowing from them when poured over the roof) as when this happens the drain backs up and defeats the framework causing it to fall on you and the floor...
This is why cheapest isn't always best. Was this subject of a thread over on RenaultForums to as there was someone posting with a very similar experience?
Re: CAMBELT SERVICE, CORRECT TOOLS BUT CAMS KEEP OUT OF TIME BY VALVE SPRINGS FORCE!!
Unlucky! That's because most likely its not a genuine tool and damn, what's going off with the belt tension to make the belt be that far over toward the engine?
Steven,
I can't comment on the AST as I've never run either setup but I believe they are about as good as you will get for a non-motorsport budget. They are however nearly double the price and will like the BC's require servicing but that's not an assault on the product and I'm not saying the...
What quality issues on the BC Clio setup? Heard of loads on the Evo but non on the Clio II/III or Megane II - I personally run (and sell) the BC's on my Clio and love them. For the price they're extremely flexible and adaptable to just about everybody's needs.
I guess it comes down to what...
As per Phil above really but I confess to owning a HD3+ (Thanks to G 172) and the thing that swayed me to the HD3 units was the built in Wifi/GoPro App functionality so I didn't need to buy the screen and remote backs (which are pricey).
I can be strapped in to my seat then take my phone out...
Amen! It amazing how many people seem to apply this logic though.
To the OP - are you sure the dampers aren't old and tired, tires all in good order, etc? It's easy to talk yourself into spending a huge sum of cash on "upgrades" when all you really need to do is refresh the old items.
I'd love to have a face to face with you sometime Korky as I to have just sent a couple of designs in for some CFD work (one using the standard lower manifold and the other a complete replacement). A viable printed material and finishing is proving tricky but I hope time will resolve that issue...
As above you really need a stiffer spring. Are there any issues relating to classes that prohibit the use of coil overs (if this is a track/sprint car)?
Grp N is also designed to optermise the engine on standard inlet not with the RS2 inlet.
I don't personally know what Mike has done to the timing but he's obviously spending a lot of time playing so I don't blame him for not putting the numbers out there.
Do you have a 172 Cup? The single piece shaft is normally used on these where the two piece is the 172/182 unit and requires a bearing carrier which is bolted to the back of the block
