    Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

Yeah I've found that ice/frost melts away with my blowers on much quicker than it did before. Frosts up quite easily though.

    BluePoint Machine Polisher.

Scholl's awesome, but I found I had to use it in a different technique to Megs. I found it a lot easier to use tbh and corrected much faster. That was with one of their spider sandwich pads though.

The brand is Dodo Juice, not sure who makes them for DJ but it's certainly good enough to go with if you can find a bargain like that.

Yeah I gave it a good wash and clay and then polished with G4 and wiped a little bit of G2 over it before applying the G1. A little bit smeary whilst motorway driving today but I think that's probably more a case of a lot of motorway grime and me being reluctant to use screen wash! Fun watching...

    Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

Cracked on and applied the G1 today and all seemed to go okay, apart from a shower that wasn't forecast... Found it a real PITA to apply the G2 and 'immediately' buff off as it dries so quickly and leaves smears. A quick spray of Fast Glass sorted that out though. Now to wait for some rain and...

    What have you ordered? *Detailing*

Today I ordered from Elite: G1 kit Zaino Z-6 Dodo Juice Wash Mitt as well as a spare cheap wheel brush and a couple of spare bottles with chem resistant heads. I forgot how much I like wax over sealant, even if it doesn't fair well in terms of durability, so I'm hoping the Zaino can extend...

I can cope with judder as long as visibility isn't hindered in the meantime. I haven't got any IPA but will have a small amount of G2 that comes with the kit so will use that thoroughly. I also have AG Fast Glass which (I think) is alcohol based so assume it'll have a similar cleansing effect?

Cool, cheers. Have ordered the kit so will give it a go on Saturday weather permitting. A few people seem to be complaining of smearing following application. is there an established way to avoid this (ie is it user-error in application) or is it just bad luck if it happens?

I'm tempted to get the GTechniq G1 kit but am weary that temperature seems to play an important role in application. Am I better off waiting until Spring?

I think Handheld is always a bit later. Classic is good, definitely more suited to the time I have available to play.

White 172 Cup - Exeter (Saturday)

Saw a tidy looking white 172 Cup (replica?) in King William underground car park on Saturday. Cliosport sticker on the back so it's certainly been owned by a member in its life at some point...?

I haven't tried the 5 but it must be a MASSIVE leap forward from the 4s to surpass the advance that happened from the 3GS to 4s.

Surely, in even the worse case scenario, it's a simple problem to fix by just showing them you've been charged for two? Not sure it's worthy of a board-level complaint.

The Southwest monthly big meet at Exeter - 2nd friday of the month - 8:30pm

I have attended a few meets in my 8 years on here, albeit usually arranged in conjunction with a set of friends so that catching up has more relevance than the cars we all drive. I'm not sure it's me that has set the 'cruise scene' image though: Maybe I'm just getting old though!

The Southwest monthly big meet at Exeter - 2nd friday of the month - 8:30pm

Hmm, I was going to consider popping to one of these at some point but doesn't really sound like my thing. Meets used to be more about parking cars up and getting to know people than making noise and pissing off locals...
