From what i have read when the gearbox got updated they put different actuators in it, so just not mapping, any gearbox can have problems, just look at the mk3 gearbox, people still buy them thou
If you test drive one with a renaultsport monitor in it make sure you change the throttle and steering settings , makes a nice difference in sport mode, and the gear changes are faster in sport mode
The trophy has different springs, shocks, steering rack, Turbo, air intake, faster gearbox ,paddles have 30% less travel in them, more power and is 3 seconds a lap quicker around there track and you get 4 years warranty and full breakdown cover.
The trouble now is people want it all, as good as the mk3 is they probably could not shift enough to make financial sense or meet emissions or crash tests.
You could argue that the clio trophy is more of a rs product than the megane trophy as that never had much more if anything than the regular one, but the clio was completely overhauled ,so more of an rs product
I've had a 265 , engine better but prefer my clio seems more up to date ,to me all other manufacturers have got lazy fiesta St. Etc. Loved my clio mk3 200 but to dated now for me.
Gearbox will multiple down change When braking hard, and will only down change when in the engine revs are to low in manual mode , if the engine is going say 10 MPH in 3 rd. If you get my meaning.
Love mine can't think what i would replace it with, just had to drive and manual car for the last five days and hated it. These 220 are a proper piece of kit that is well developed, just take a look at the 220 specs. If you have any questions fire away.
Watched this for the first time yesterday, for me garbage, it was like watching motorsport with the sound off. Think i about lasted about a minute then turned it off.
Me to , when I drive the mrs car it seems old fashioned .I am finding the gearbox is still involving as I'm always aware of it ,what it's doing . It's surprising how much I use manual mode just for the fun of it.
Just swapped my headlight bulbs a few days ago
Put osram night breakers in dipped beam as I had these laying about in the garage and ring 130 xenon's in that main beam ,wow what a difference especially the main beam .For about £30 for both it's a no brainier.
Yes ,I think it could be the pad material , it's always commented that the meganes brakes naff to.The master cylinder is also bigger on mk4 Clio than the mk3 Clio and meganes.
No was three years old and had 10,000 miles on it ,my Megane 265 was the same .The 220 has more bite to them ,I heard Renault ditched the brembos as they were not good enough and I would agree what's on it now are spot on.
Having had a 200 n/a and now and 220 I can see your point the 200 does look at bit more motorsport and a bit more involving, but things have moved on the 200 brakes were not up to much, no torque. I can see the appeal of the n/a engine as I've had a few civic R's aswell as the clio, but after a...
