All of the above ...plus a lot more when you get hooked on track days (which you will).
But on a budget, whack some decent tyres and some track pads in to start off. Then book a load of track days with whatever money you have left and go for it.
I, ve got Brembo Hc ( about 40 quid off George or e bay ) and some basic road pads ( 13 quid from ECP ) and mine stops no trouble. Wouldnt use these pads on track obviously but perfectly ok for road use.
If you undo the 2 little bolts ( star bolts I think ) underneath the black plastic trim where the mechanism is on the slam panel, move the locking mount ever so slightly to the right ( 1mm max ) then tighten it up again. Try the bonnet release again to see if it works , if not rinse and repeat...
Have got some Apex which I took off mine at the weekend and they are as near as dammit 300mm (they were very low though, have got Eibachs on now, much better) , so would assume you have bought some lowering springs. Whether you use them depends on whether you want it lowered I suppose.
Only have experience of yellowstuffs and ds2500's at moment. Yellowstuffs 1 or 2 trackdays max (depending on track and how long a day it was ), and a mate killed off some ds2500's in 2 days also (that was a long day at Mallory and then a long day at Bedford SEN ,mostly with a passenger ). He has...
You may have resealed it but did you repack it with grease first?
If you have run either cv too dry for too long you may have already done the damage to the splines.
Just to note, this comment of mine re.tongue in cheek was more to do with the fact that the OP as obviously had some improvement made to his engine and therefore felt that he suddenly had some overpowered monster that couldnt be stopped even if you chucked a couple of parachutes out the back...
I would take a major guess that is the driveshaft splines clicking on full lock. Check your cv boots haven't chucked their grease at some point. Will only get worse over time but as long as you're not a wheelspin kind of fella will probably last a good while before needing attention. If it gets...
I know this site is for advice and help, but seriously some of the questions that get asked are just ......aaaaaarrrrggggg. Cant people make decisions theirselves nowadays about the most mundane things . Where do I put a sticker, black wheels or silver wheels , this bonnet or that bonnet , do I...
Akrapovic are lovely, had a couple of them on bikes, sounded gorgeous very crisp. Still got an endcan off my old Yamaha here....wonder if I can adapt it to fit the clio.
Probably just one of the pads down to the metal. Easy way to check is to do what most people would do and take the wheel off and have a look!!!!
Please tell me the 130 bhp comment was tongue in cheek.
Fred , talking sense as usual.
I,m into having decent tyres if possible but seriously on the rear it really doesnt matter THAT much. A couple of fellas in Clio cups were running complete junk tyres all around at Brands a couple of weeks back and they weren't off at every bend , and they were...
Just fitted the black on my dogbone mount. There is a lot more vibration especially around the 1.5-2000 revs mark, but it settles down once you are driving it. The whole dash seems to vibrate. Seems to make the gearchange a little more precise, which is part of the reason for fitting it anyway. I...
The only one who seems to have mentioned it is G172,....that price is for one steel wheel and one tyre, plus another 9.90 per wheel for delivery. So nearly 460 quid for some steelies and some ' winter tyres ' ( i.e naff all good the rest of the year ). Money much better spent elsewhere I would...
I have seen these advertised as tarmac/rally/sprint/hill climb tyres. A fella in a clio cup had a set on when I was down at Brands a few weeks back, in 175/60/16 fitment I think ( weird size to put on a Clio I thought ). He said they were ok , however his mate was running " shinyu's ", or...
A few places on e bay have them , I think there's one called Woodford Garages , or something similar down in Totnes. A mate ordered a complete set yesterday, he was told that Powerflex dont really allow discounting by the people that they let sell them so the price anywhere is going to be very...
Just a suggestion, why dont you just put some Kumho v70a tyres on your 16" wheels and just stick with them for both road and track. Excellent tyres ( although a little expensive ) , and saves the aggro of the spare wheels/swopping thing. I only suggest this as they are pretty much the only...
Yes they are all capable track tyres whereas the Toyo T1R are not really. Depends on how hard you push your car and how quick a driver you are. I personally find the ones I mentioned a little lacking and use Toyo 888's whenever I can. The initial post suggests you are using/building the car to...
Better tyres than T1r's required for the track I would suggest. They will understeer like buggery once you start pushing it a little. The sidewalls arn't that stiff either so you'll be squirming around a lot. Seems a waste to buy some brand new alloys and then scrimp on average tyres. Go with...
If you 've got a valve tool handy, make sure that its nipped up tight. Tyre shops can be a little slapdash sometimes remembering to make sure they're tightened when installing new ones. Worth checking first at least.
Re , black/purple, having received my black ones today I have to say the density of the poly is a lot more than your normal polybush. Very very firm polycarbonate. For myself, this suits as my car despite being my eveyday drive is heavily modded for track use, however for just road use I would...
I had that happen in Tescos car park on a sunday morning a few weeks back, deserted car park and not only did I come out to find another car parked next to mine, it was like a limpit, about 6 inches from my drivers door so I struggled to get in . Wrote out a quite abusive note on a piece of...
Amate runs 205/50/15 in 888's for the track and he gets the occasional bit of rubbing, especially under braking as the front dives a little. He's running coilovers but they are not set particularly low. I find Clio's very tight for space on the front arches. Mine catches occasionally on standard...
Plenty left. Just checked on "HowManyLeft" website and as an example there were 1500 clio 172's taxed this year, and 256 sorn'd. So not quite collectors cars yet.
