I love my Eibach Prolines and Koni Yellow dampers, for 12 car road rallies and Targa rallies. I run Toyo R888R's in the dry, and PS3's or R1R's if it's not. The Eibach's really don't lower the car by much at all, and the increase in spring rate means you are less likely to hit the floor. I...
205 GTi was not the homologation version of the group B rally car, that was the 205 T16, immediately recognisable as the engine is in the back, much the same as the R5 Turbo (not to be mistaken for the GTT). The 205 GTi is essentially very similar in idea and history to the MK1 Golf GTI and the...
Good evening,
I am looking for a place to buy the spring clips that hold the brake pipes in place on the clio. These are the clips that hold the lines in place. When you undo the hardline fitting to put braided lines, there are 4 on the back and 2 on the front. They look like a U with rounded...
The wheels were only fitted as standard to 172 Cups, and 182 Trophies. If they have come off a standard 172, or 182/182 Cup, they have been retrofitted. That said, a fair few Cups/Trophies won't have a factory matching set on, I know at least one of mine is from another 172 Cup, since I bent a...
Did the wheel that would not fit over the hub spigot have a spigot ring in? Often plastic spigot rings are a little undersize and are tight on the hub spigot when you put them on. If the odd wheel has a spigot ring, then it isn't off of a Renault car, and is an aftermarket wheel purchased from...
Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, on one of your wheels, the bolts go in further than on the others?
If so, it could be that 1 of your wheels is 172 Cup offset ET38, and the other three are 182 Trophy offset (ET45 from memory) or vice versa. It might be that on the Cup wheels they...
Ah right yeah, fair enough.
If you're after fit and forget, I can't fault the cup set up on mine really, feels good, and works well, even if you are giving it some punishment.
I'd say it's definitely a write off myself, sorry to hear about it, but at least you're ok. When I banged up my first clio, it took me a while to realise it could have been so much worse, and I could have been seriously injured.
I'd definitely steer clear of eBay discs myself, last thing you need is the already highly stressed bearings being made of cheese and collapsing on you. Either OE renault, or the actual brembo discs both seem to have good bearings in from my experience.
Personally if I were removing the ABS, I would look to put twin master cylinders in. Coming from historic racing, it's pretty common to fab up plates and brackets to use the existing pedal but have twin cylinders. This is something I am looking to do to my cup anyway, to gain on the fly...
I saw the same car on the M26 from the M25 to the M20. Was on the blue suzuki bike that gave it a thumbs up. Was also a Ph1 and a weird coloured camo 172 Ph2 just a little way ahead. By the looks of it they were on the way back from a track day I'd say.
I got a set of OZ F1's for 50 quid, that were even more kerbed than your set (looked for a picture, but couldn't find it). You've got to make sure you remove any metal that's higher than the surface of the wheel would be, if that makes sense. For example, where the wheel scraped the kerb...
It's been said a good few times above mate, there's no way in hell 300mm discs will fit in 15 inch wheels. Have a look at Opticals clearance above, with 300mm discs under 16 inch wheels. Now imagine trying to fit that lot with 12.7mm less space per side!
Did mine a couple of weeks back, had a 25mm ARB, so you guessed it! I put 25mm Powerflex Black bushes on. Essentially what needs doing will be very obvious, although it's getting the clamps done back up that you will struggle with. I did mine on the floor, with an average supply of tools. My...
HEL are more widely known in the motorcycling community, but both manufacturers now make lines for cars and bikes, and I've ridden and driven on both, and there really is nothing in it. Both good lines, I'd definitely have the stainless fittings on there myself.
That makes sense, yeah. I use Koni Yellow adjustables on my car, can't afford to go trashing a set of AST's over the terrain... They're ok, but I think you'd want more for track work.
I'd do tyres way before you put coilovers, or at least at the same time. Depending on what you already have of course, but most budget road tyres will overheat in no time. Putting the sticky tyres on early, allows you to pick brake pads that can generate the braking force the stickier tyres can...
I'd guess they use the seat belt socket instead of the Clio one, which has the pretensioner attached? Wouldn't surprise me if the two cars had the same seat belt plug if you know what I mean?
I have two corbeau pro seats in mine. Can't fault them, they are a snug fit into the car though! I'll try and remember to put a picture up after work. Very comfortable, light and hold you in very well.
In terms of MOT you are definitely allowed through an MOT with them. Myself and many I know have sailed through in MOT stations all over the country. I think some seat subframes have the mounting points for the pretensioner, so you might need those. I certainly wouldn't bodge it though, cause if...
Some people report elongation of the ball joint hole in the hub. If your rear shocks dont fix it, could be worth having the ball joints out of the hub to check for any elongation.
eBay prices are more of an upper end guideline I'd say. People know they can always go on eBay and pick it up for that price, so ideally you want to knock a couple of quid off the eBay price if you want to shift stuff quickly. Some of the eBay stuff will be on there for months before it sells...
