Cool, I'll have a look at the connections tomorrow, think it just got wet in the rain last week.
I was quoted £45 each for Bosch ones, so I may look into it over the winter.
Is it worth replacing even though it is fine now?
And which is cylinder 1? Are they in order left/right or is it the firing sequence that determines what number it is?
Got in the car this morning and the EML had turned itself off, winning! But decided to read the codes anyway when I got to my parents. They were:
"Injector circuit open cylinder 1"
And "random/multiple misfire".
Going to clear them and see if it does it again when it rains. Car seems fine now...
Seems like a simple fix! But isnt there a dimple in the wrap where the aerial used to be if the carbon fibre is glued from under neath? Or is it flush?
I will remove mine then. What are you doing to replace the dash? A simple driver's c**k pit/binicle only??
If you are hand painting then and sand the glue off, just go over it with a finer grade?
I would personally leave the wires in, have to weigh up the weigtht saving and potentially cocking...
You don't hang around in getting that dash out! Was the lower dash easy to do? I want to remove mine and make it black / flock it, top dash seems easy to remove.
I will acquire a heat gun then! Have you tried alcohol? Or if you are painting the interior just sand it off??
I'm in Tadley every day.....didn't see this though.
How are you going about removing the sound deadening? Like those stuck on bits "randomly" placed around the car? I would like to remove mine before I paint the interior. Also what coulour interior you going?
While the engine is out I would...
Don't need a new wheel. All you need to do is the simple resistor trick (3.3ohm if i remember correctly) in the connections where the air bag went. As long as the light is off it doesn't matter if you don't have an air bag iirc.
Had numerous cars over the years with a race style wheel and they...
The EML has stopped flashing and now constant. I have just driven some fair way (probs too much for a dicky car) and it has been fine, full performance and no hesitation.
Damn if it is an injector, one has gone in the past.
I'm thinking not being used for a week and getting wet hasn't helped...
Full flocking 😂 it is one job I want to do on mine.
Ahh Newbury, I didn't see you were that close. Well mine is going back to my parents at the end of next month so it can sit on their drive for the winter for tinkering.
Looking nice, dash especially.
Doing the exact same as me - I have just bought a cheaper Clio as a runabout so I can go full yob on the 172. Although I have a feeling yours is going to prgress at a greater rate than mine!
The reader I have managed to give the right code for a fauty injector, doesn't work so well on mum's Mini. So I am hopeful it will give me something.
Ahh ok, just seems that there was loads being bought and sold in the for sale section so I thought they were good.
I have a code reader but that is at my parents......90mins away! (I don't live at home). I think i will change it.
It seems to be fine now after a quick run up the road.
I have also lost my ICV breather filter, no where to be seen in the engine bay! Don't think that is the problem though...
Didn't use my car this weekend as I was away. It rained, foot well full of water (again) - now think this is a blocked drain plug in the wiper scutter as first thought I left my winder open. Then the car sounded like it was on 3 cylinders and then struggled and the engine management light was...
went to the car now and......full of water, a good 2" deep in the driver's foot well. Not want I want to be doing today. Think the mats have had it. Lucky I have no carpets and electronics under the seat as that would have been ruined. How easy is it to remove the scuttle?
And how does the...
I wonder if this is the reason why my driver's foot well is a bit wet when it rains loads
I am about to get in my car for the first time in a week and I know we have had rain.....let's hope it is ok!!
It isn't a big village so I am bound to be spotted!!
The 172 is going back to the parent's in September for some TLC over the winter/ Not really driven the new one as I only have temp insurance until Wednesday ont he new one and I took the 172 home this weekend to do an oil change. But I have to...
Drill it out. I tried to take mine out once and failed dismally.....shed loads of WD40, using a hammer to tap the torx into place. Luckily I had to change the hub anyway and the one I bought had a sensor already on it.
Serviced the car, aka chainged the oil and filter.
Glad I bought a new sumnp plug as this is what happened to the old one...whoops!!
Also removed some rocks from the under tray, not sure where they came from. They dont fit in the palm of my hand, so some serious weight saving!
Thinking of...
I have a few nearly empty bottles of oil from serving the car (damn 4.5ltr capacity and having to buy 5ltrs!!!!). They are all 5w40 fully synthetic, different brands but one is the same brand but a different "grade", well the label is different. I want to put them all into one bottle to save...
It is a nice colour.
I don't think it would be that obvious behind the wheels, and that is why I think it will work. If you are going for an accent colour for the rest of the car then it will be fine. And just keep to the BG and purple scheme. Plus it adds a bit of flair to it, like a signature
Now that I have pick up my daily drive the Ph1 is going to be turned back into a track car. Some stickers wouldn't go a miss, mainly of the things I have on it. Oh and a number spot!!
Like the idea of sort of an advert for a family business.
Would like some period stickers of a Renault racer of...
