I'd be trying to match the ports of that manifodl to the head. Im guessing the missmatch will create turbulence, decrease flow, increase EGT's / valve temperatures and cost performance. My manifold looks identical to your but the ports are oval and match the 172 ph1 cylinder head perfectly.
AndyRG said he used his fixed timing on his meggane turbo 8 degrees permanent advance to get his 326bhp which contradcits exactly what is discussed above about reduced overlap helping, which is quite strange.
But from what i can make out the timing change i have done will reduce my low end a...
Yes use the normal JEnvey MR23 manifold, and some Jenvey DCOE/SF apadtors, works out at about £320 though so not really that cheap. Worked well for me though
Had a play with the cam timing today, it was all a bit of a guesstimate really.
See picture...
The exhaust cam stays at 0 degrees, i bent my timing too to approx 7 degrees of r****d on the inlet. THe dephaser always biases towards advance (think its something to do with the spring), so its...
c**ting game is pissing me off, ive got about 5 Ore refinarys, 2 coal refinarys, 2 processor factorys, 3 recycling centres all churning out loads of plastic, alloy, metal e.t.c
Had about £400k in the bank, left it going as i was walking the dogs, came back and i was bankrupt, all my trade...
Very nice, sorry to hijack your thread btw. Also strange how your log manifold has circular exhaust ports?
I'm redoing my cam timing tommorow, ill lock crank at TDC, loosen inlet pulley and manually rotate the cam until the piston hits the valve and upload a picture to show what angle this is...
I meant retarded in the fact the valve opens a fair chunk later than the 172 one. What affect does it have if the inlet closes slightly later (the brown 172 line would shift to the RHS of the purple line by 2-3mm).
Sorry if this all sounds dumb, got a lot of questions flying about in my head...
The VVT allows 16 degrees of swing.
CHip ive tried doing some basic reading on cam timing and understand the basics. If i were to change the static timing of the inlet cam to 8 degrees retarded. Which would then allow for a lower 8 degrees of inlet advance when the VVT is energised (and all...
I wouldnt know mate... maybe it would, maybe it wouldnt, something i doubt anyone has the answer too unless they actually built and engine with those parts and tested it.
Yes Meganne 225 headgasket the gasket is thicker, but it was over £100 for the gasket set (cant buy seperately), had ro order from france and CBA in the end just used a more convinent clio gasket.
I cant change the inlet cam to fixed pulley, means changing it to a non VVT camshaft e.t.c may...
No bent valves, i think i got lucky. Not just a couple of a weeks ago there was a bloke on here posting the same problems, his was considerably worse sounding than mine >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xAIBnRwX6M
I was thinking to dabble with the cam timing i wouldnt know where to set it, or...
Im going to eat my words here, i fired up the new engine properly today, and i heard something i didnt like, when the VVT engages the pistons are hitting the valves, proper gutted as im sure people had done this previously with no problems at all.
No sure what to do now, fit wossners, machine...
