Hi, had my 182 for about 3 months now, and ever since I got it the cruise control hasn't worked in 5th gear.
It works fine in 4th every time, and very very occasionally in 5th, but mostly it doesn't work. Has anyone had the same problem, or any ideas on what might be wrong?
My initial feeling...
Powers are 195bhp for 197's and 198bhp for 200's are they not?
I was lead to believe the 197 suffered from big flat spots in the standard map and worse gear ratios than the 200.
200 cup/ cup packed also has a faster steering rack and even firmer suspension than a 197 cup/ cup packed of the same...
Lol, I get my enthusiasm off my dad, he's had 2x tvr's, a Westfield, a Bristol 411, 2x corvettes and a vauxhall Monaro vxr to name but a few. He supports my habit :p
Pretty sure he's winding you up mate. And twin cams never "kick in" both cam shaft's are working all the time. And the variable valve timing is active from 2k rpm, just isn't a very good map until 5k
My opinion might be worth a read, so here goes.
I had a 172 cup with k-tec cat back, k-tec coilovers, owned it for a year and a half and enjoyed every moment of it. Like you I fancied a change, always wanted an rb so when one came up local to me I snapped it up.
I've had the car about 2-3...
As everyone has said, they aren't exactly similar routes, If the question was supercharge or turbocharge it would make more sense.
One option (air) is going to destroy the driveability, ruin the handling and turn it into a static car. IMO clio's don't do this look well.
The other is going to...
Haha very odd. I was in my rb 182, but I parked at the back because I hate door dents. My mate came later in his black 172 too, can't believe you missed them! Lol
Hate this time of year. I always see how long I can go between washes before I feel it looks too sh*t. Washed it earlier in the week as it looked mega mank. Is that a Yozza sport exhaust?
Clio v6's are fantastic, very special cars and I know in the right hands would be faster than a 1*2. I can also see them becoming very valuble in years to come, especially as there is no replacement model. But you did not paste a monaro vxr or a 911 in one. Unless the 911 was an early low...
I had a Powerflex dogbone mount on my 172 for about a year and never had any problems, had a Powerflex lower engine mount on my gti6 and that too had no problems, and my dad had power flex mounts on his corvette and again no problems?
Don't see why people are slating them tbh.
It seems OP...
I'm from Bishopstoke near Eastleigh and usually driving about Eastleigh to see the mrs or burseldon to see mates, give me a flash if you see me :), rb 182 :).
I was considering a 197 a few months back too, reading things like this put me off tbh. 200 odd extra kg is a big deficit to make up on a 1*2. Fun will always be lost
I know that, and I understand, but if you re-read my post, I said something he doesn't know about. What if the cam belt snapped dispite not being due, or the coil pack fails, or it spits a plug out etc.
Those are unforeseen and no bodys fault, but still not going to put him in a nice situation...
To be fair, I wouldn't want to sell to a friend or family. If something big goes wrong with it a week later for something you were completely unaware of, it's just going to be awkward. He's going to think you offloaded, you'll feel bad etc.
Much easier to tell a stranger it's sold as seen IMO.
