f**k about. LEGENDS. I knew the bloke (Nigel Brown) who wrote Silkworm on the speccy!

Elite sequel - Elite : Dangerous

If its true to the original, that's kind of the point. Elite was the "road sweeper simulator" (but in space) of its day.

    Apple Pay

Its twice as complex than using a contactless card though. ;)

    Apple Pay

I just don't get it, they seem to be using technology just for the sake of using it and making stuff more complex & convoluted than it needs to be. (Google Wallet, Apple Pay, Shell scratch and sniff pay) It's like the apps to control your TV from your phone, pick up phone, unlock phone, swipe...

Can only get 1mb broadband - alternatives?

Because web traffic is generally asymmetric (hence ADSL), 150/150 would be pretty pointless to 99.9% of people. You mainly consume.

Hai, joining in the VM speed test game. ;) ....Waiting for Player 3 to join.

    OnePlus 2 - Announced

I don't quite understand your point. The oneplus was shipping in April of last year, that puts its cycle at give or take 18 months....if you didn't manage to get one until december then it'd be no different to buying an iPhone in April and then moaning that it got updated in September! Lol The...

    iPhone 6 thread.

Answer to what? Lol Oyster does store a balance on the card, it reconciles overnight which picks up any fraudulent or duplicate cards in the system. (Yes, this was a possibility)

    Apple Music/Beats 1

Yosemite is hideous, its full of bugs and performance issues. Had to do the mail rebuild this morning after it decided that the email on my phone from last night to this morning wasn't worth syncing.

    App Development

Games are an easy sell, they have a huge potential market, but "hit" games like flappy birds are rare, especially for indie developers. Sure if you come up with a hugely addictive unique game you're probably going to make some moolah, but that's the hard part and why it happens very rarely...

    App Development

But @SharkyUK this time next year we'll be mill-yon-airs. When an app only generates 400 dollars worth and gets into the top 10 on iTunes you soon realise that the app boat has well and truly sailed!

    OnePlus One, anyone got one?

@rctempire Stock OTA, although I couldn't be bothered to wait for the OTA to arrive, so I downloaded the OTA image, rebooted into the recovery and selected update and pointed at the file I downloaded on the phone. 10 minutes later the phone had updated, was running CM12 and no data was lost.

    OnePlus One, anyone got one?

Took me a few minutes and searching to figure out why quiet hours was no more, found loads of people installing random crap that didn't quite work properly, but they still went with it. Then I found the priority mode. Volume Up, stick it in priority and then edit the settings and select the...

Brother in laws workmate came and installed it this morning and removed all the electrics from the old airing cupboard. Me likey.

    Nest Installation

Yeah, I could wire it with my eyes shut, but I can't be arsed to figure out which wire is what from the boiler (plus there's some electrics that need removing from the now defunct airing cupboard)...but seeing as it's not actually costing me anything (brother in law is a heating engineer, his...

    Nest Installation

I bought a nest thermostat, we've just had our boiler replaced (donkeys year old one with hot water tank replaced with a condensing combi). Boilers currently wired into the plug socket until tomorrow when the nest gets connected up. The current thermostat was in the hall (let me explain, it's...

    Road Angel Help/ Advice

I'd like to think there's a feature buried in it that basically goes "You drove like a c**t yesterday, today, I'm going to stitch you right up" and then sends you into every traffic jam en-route with your fellow c***s! lol

    Road Angel Help/ Advice

The TomTom is worth it just for their traffic, it's pretty amazeballs (I guess that's the advantage of having millions of units out there on the UK road system). If there's a jam on your route it will almost certainly tell you and get you round it, ALWAYS trust it even if you think you know...

    Nest Installation

Yeah. It's not so much the ones in the middle of the night that are the problem, ok, they might be a little scary and annoying. It's the ones when you're miles away and your phone tells you that your house is burning down that are the ones that seem to get people!
  25. S

    Nest Installation

I've not heard anything bad about the Nest thermostat tbh (it's just the smoke alarms that seem to be awful), only other than people moaning that it only works properly with a combi boiler. You can use it with a non-combi, but you need to keep the existing programmer and wire the nest into...

    Nest Installation

No, just curious! I still have a read of the nest forums every now and then and people are still complaining about it. The people I know with them suffer from the false alerts, but they were early adopters. Just wondering really whether the situation was better in newer hardware (which the...

    The Apple Watch Thread

It was hilarious. People really couldn't see the bigger picture which is that not everybody is a PC/forum geek. Email+Facebook+Web. That's what most people use a "PC" for at home. iPad ticked all of those with one swoop. I still fail to see how people were arguing against it back then!

    The Apple Watch Thread

This is one of the "classic" apple issues that they refuse (for whatever reason) to budge on. This shouldn't have been an issue from iOS2 onwards, but today, it's still a f**king issue. Androids differentiation between App Drawer & Home page is right and something Apple have wrong. if I don't...

    The Apple Watch Thread

Jony Ives spending 5 minutes talking about how they reinvented the pinwheel is enough to put off anybody but the most virgin of virgins. Not only does it look shite, but you know the first person you spot wearing one in public is going to be a complete and utter tool. (P.S I still love Apple...
