    o2 / sky = out of here

I'm just happy that there appear to be very few people in my immediate vicinity on VM, most people seem to be either on BT or Sky which is great for my connection. My speed never drops in the evening either, bonus!

I got an email from Virgin while I was at download telling me that they'd upped my speed again. Happy days.

    iOS7 - Features/Screenshots

Argument? More of a discussion.... However, I honestly don't ever remember them adding new features post beta 1 other than features specific to unannounced hardware although I'm happy to be proven wrong on that. Announced features that aren't currently enabled don't count!

    iOS7 - Features/Screenshots

There won't be anymore features though, barring those that are specific to the iPhone5S. There will be tweaks and bug fixes, but what you're seeing is a feature complete version of iOS7 for current devices.

Nope. Barring features that will be iPhone5S specific, this is it.

    WWDC

This. It's something that you do maybe once before you realise that things break. There's no guarantee that beta 2 won't introduce as many bugs as it fixes. I wouldn't be using one of these UDID resellers, it's against the terms and conditions of use and apple will and DO cancel these...

    WWDC

Lets face it, is iOS7 had been anything like the iOS5->iOS7 transition then they may as well have given up! iOS6 was woeful. Here's iOS5, but worse..."round of applause and whooping from the audience". iOS7 looks prettier, from what I've seen the control centre looks awful, but that could...

    WWDC

Without trying to sound like a troll, it's just like Android Jellybean, only a year later! This announcement was going to define whether or not my defection to Android was merely a blip or something longer term, oh well, maybe iOS8. I can't help but feel disappointed in Apple once again, a...

    WWDC

I most looking forward to a keynote that's devoid of Scott Forstall :) iOS7 is obviously the interesting one, have they learned that their way of doing stuff isn't always the best or right way? Rumors and off handed remarks seem to imply that there is scope for it to be more open.....time will...

    ISS & the Milky way

Great photos :) You only have to look through a telescope to see how many stars suddenly appear from nowhere. Hope that wasn't a comet either ;)

Shame it's such a lottery with Virgin. My connection over WiFi: (Upload should be 10Mb, but they haven't upped my upload rate yet)

    Jolla - Sailfish Mobile Phone

Nokia's biggest problem was with their development teams who (I had the misfortune of having to deal with) seemed to have the arrogance of Apple ("we're right") but without actually being right, at all, ever. Once they had an idea in their head it was the right way, you could have a thousand...

    Jolla - Sailfish Mobile Phone

I have to ask this Andy, but do you get some sort of perverse enjoyment out of buying awful mobile phones?! :p There's Die Hard and then there's Andy!

    Ipad rant

Actually I just checked on the wifes iPad and you can't do it. What I was remembering is that when the iPad is connected to a charger then WiFi is always active regardless of whether the device is asleep. There appears to be no way of enabling wifi when asleep continuously (I was thinking...

There's an option isn't there in settings, enable WiFi during sleep?

    Heygate estate, London.

I always look at the top of the block from the thameslink as I pass by it that's had the graffiti blanked out. "They buy your happiness...steal it!" The estate may have been an eyesore, but it's no worse than many of the estates in London and the council stitched the residents up something bad.

    Ipad rant

It doesnt page to disk because it would kill the flash memory rather quickly. nand flash cannot be randomly changed at will, it is stored as "pages" of x bytes and you can only change a bit from a one to a zero, you can't do the opposite without erasing the entire page first. It's also not...

Anybody here into non-realtime graphics rendering?

I realise what I wrote sounded stupid, when I said "recursive?" I actually wasn't surprised that it was a recursive algorithm (it obviously is), I was just surprised that you implemented it as recursive, but if you limit the depth that the stack could go then it's obviously not a problem. I...

Anybody here into non-realtime graphics rendering?

Recursive? Do you limit the number of times (depth) that a ray that interact with the scene? I've written cad software in the past and I would often have to do stuff that is recursive, but due to the immense number of objects recursion would not be a good idea. Ray casting was something that...

    Virgin Media

I was one of the trialists for it. I've had it for about 3 weeks. It's night and day between this and the SH1.

My upload rate hasn't been upgraded yet, it should be 10Mbit but they've only done the downstream at the moment.

    Virgin Media

I kind of agree with TiVo, I like the idea of it, it's just not well implemented. It's slow and the menus are confusing, you often end up clicking an option twice because of bad nesting. If it were as quick to operate with the remote as it is with the iPad app then it'd be a winner, but it...

Youtube is to do with traffic shaping in the VM network I believe, I don't really watch anything on youtube so it doesn't really bother me. SH2 won't fix that. No problems whatsoever with netflix or anything like that, works like a charm. Just did this speedtest (5Ghz wifi):

    Virgin Media

SH2. What I can tell you is that even with the minor bugs in it, it's FAR better than the SH1. Wireless is awesome instead of virtually unusable as it was on the SH1. Runs 2Ghz and 5Ghz concurrently, yay. I get the full 100Mbit over wifi.

    Backbox Mounts?

Does anybody have a picture (or take for me) of the mount on a Ph2 172? My car didn't move for most of last month due to me being away with work and during this time some scrote has stolen the silver 2.0 badges from the doors and also attempted to steal the "sport" from the back, but once...

    o2 / sky = out of here

The worst broadband service I ever had was with Plusnet, granted we are going back in time a bit. It all started well and then after about 12 months they decided to invest in packet shaping hardware and then more packet shaping hardware and then even more packet shaping hardware. They...

    o2 / sky = out of here

My virgin connection: I personally don't have any problems with virgin, although obviously some people do - it depends how utilised your local area is. We have BT infinity in the office and that also works well. There's not a chance in hell I'd ever go back to a "normal adsl" connection.

    OS X VPN woes

Obviously not, but given that I've told him what the problem is and why the problem exists he still chooses to ignore it. Give someone advice and they call you an arrogant c**t. Nice one.

    OS X VPN woes

And? Whoever set up your VPN (and I'm being kind here) is a dipshit. You have a routing issue and its almost certainly caused by the fact that that both networks are on the same address. Given that most home users will be on a 192.168.x.x address only an idiot would set up a work network on...
