As soon as I inspected it I could see the issue; sitting well proud of the shoulder...filed it down until it fitted and its now spot on.
I'm sure it will get easier too...
Thanks vhaps :)
That is spot on :)
Only thing is it has been fitted to a phase 1...do you know if the shoulder is a different size on the later cars?
Edit to say I have the brass bushes...
Just refitting a Yanoo'd shifter...but have found if I do the lower connector ball thing up to tight its almost impossible to move...the instructions say use thread lock but not how tight it should be...let me know if that makes n sense and I'll post photos :)
Cheers
Ian
At no point have I said that 17s handle crap...I said it f***s up the way 1*2s drive on crappy UK roads -obviously in comparisome to OE fit size wheels.
No, and I don't need to; I have driven cars that are over wheeled and the same physics applies to all cars :)
Agreed, but surely the right noises (I have a decat and Maxogen)...and NVH isn't just about noise that is only one of the measures.
Totally agree this discussion is about fitness for purpose which is about compromise; 17s may well give better turn in on a smooth road (track), but that...
Hahahaha I'm a little worn out through my lifestyle choices but not old; I was just using it as an illustration to show I'm not swayed by the in-crowd :D
You are right, this will go round in circles as it's not easy for people to accept when they are wrong...the decrease in driving enjoyment is...
You can perhaps reduce NVH by choosing a better quality tyre, having alignment corrected, replacing worn suspension components and adjusting tyre pressures...but all those actions are applicable to all wheel sizes; you are reducing the size of the sidewall which reduces compliance and increases...
Using race cars as an analogy sucks; they are designed for tracks which are -generally- smoother environments...it's not speed it's about compliance, feedback and dressing appropriately for the conditions i.e. our crap roads...that is all assuming the drive is more important than running huge...
furry muff, I can only go with my own experiences...215x40x17s on the wagon have always been a premium but I guess that's down to the 215 rather than the 40 :)
as a rule of thumb you can apply this to all cars, although different cars and different set ups will illicit slightly different behaviours; bigger wheels mean using lower profile tyres, lower profile tyres have less compliance so are influenced by imperfections in the road more than higher...
pretty sure you are spot on Dan...I thought the compressor may be fooked and when I turn the climate on it nearly stalls the engine...
99% sure it's not the PS pump as there is no additional whine when I turn load up the steering.
cheers for the replies chaps...
did around 60miles last Sunday, burning (electrical\rubbery), smell and smoke from belt area...I think either my aux tensioner or pulley is fooked. Pretty sure my air con compressor is bust too...anyone able to have an educated guess?
