Also got one of these today for the road car. Struggling to understand what actually fails on the latch? I don't understand how lubricating a bonnet latch is going to stop the bonnet flying open...?
It says a have to pay £95 for a new latch should it need it, this a definate or can you blag for...
Ah interesting, i've always had hondas and its been a given that you replace the pump when you do the cambelt. The pump can be changed then at the same time as an aux belt change?
UOTE=AdamR;9403337]Best thing is bolt a turbo or supercharger on - the engine was designed for it (for the Mazda 323), and there is a lot of knowledge around. Will cost you twice the value of the car (about £1800-2000) to do it well (reliably) though, which is why I haven't bothered...
Welcome...
Looks fun Adam! What are the mx5's like to drift under dry conditions? I've been looking at a cheap little toy for drift days, mx5's seem to fit the bill but is there enough power? Its the 1.8 variant i was looking at now sure what yours is?
Hardly burnt any oil tbh, and no blue smoke out the back (makes a change from all the hondas I've had).
When I've had it in storage i recall it smelling rich on start up i guess it could well be the 02 sensor?and/Or possibly the map had been played with, is there any sure way to tell?
I did a track day yesterday an averaged 15mpg (which seems low to me even on track) and the oil is thin and smells like it has fuel in it. Is this normal after a track day or is something a miss?
The previous owner claimed it had been cam'd but nothing to me suggests that it has.
OTE=Meek_racing;9325591]I was the same the other day, had to call Fred to make sure. Once you have set the camber and tighten up all bolts it WILL be fine, trust me!
I cant set the camber with them being so loose though??
Thanks Keith, let me know
That can't be right surely? I was under the impression that the bolt would go tight as you turn it so that it pushes the shock away from the hub which gives you your camber.
I have'nt even got as far as tightening up the bolts...
