It wasnt 2 litres mate I was joking ;) I had a seal fail so when I re assembled it I just went overboard to make sure it was properly lubricated.
So if you were to turn the wheel with wheels on the ground it would be consistent weight to the wheel?
I had to go out to get food so had a go in...
Its a quick rack in the standard hpas casing, filled with grease, this is how it came (brt motorsport) Ive just rebuilt it and filled it again with the same grease, basically it looks like murder scene in my shed as the grease is red and I used a couple litres worth o_O
Which side is heavy...
So I’ve had a swap round now of each column and the blue is the more powerful column, the green will lose assistance quite quickly after turning the wheel, this was while stationary with engine on. Since I’m using the kit to control assistance I’m not sure the ecu matters as as it’s the green...
Its finding either a twingo lower uj or clio one then just the case of wacking them off and swapping them over. 'just the case' being a little bit of work and making sure they go on the same otherwise your wheel will be offset. Made more of a difference than new rack bushes and solid topmounts...
Wheels on the ground, power on, engine off and set to max assistance, the steering starts off light then gets really heavy, then patches of lightness. I have 2 columns, one is easier to turn by hand the the other quite stiff, they have different colours, one green and the other blue. I changed...
So was scrolling through ebay as you do and found a few things that seem like good deals, I thought since Im not going to buy them someone here might want to?
If anyone sees anything post here so clio sport members get the goodies before others...
It starts... Lot of waste of time looking at earths, relays and digging around to realise that it was the wrong ecu, I have 2 sets. I put the original set back in and the car worked so im not sure how it went. Might of been a different immob at the start as I had the column out, but I swapped...
I think renault put all their efforts into the styling and asked Peugeot for some suspension, threw in some scrap wiring and somehow made a decent car.
lol Im gonna rock up with full interior and an over powered braking system, weights not on my mind (until my tyres overheat)
I still eat meat, but I guess you could call it a diet, have been doing it for some year now. Tuna and steaks have their benefits..
Cars down on stands now and so far steering is good. Its smooth and no clunks or notches. Yesterday I had the subframe off to have a proper look at the rack bushes, put the frame back on, then took the rack out again with the frame in place as there was clunking... Put the rack back bar the uj...
I know this is not the answer youre looking for but, as tight as you can. Ive had this nut start to come loose a bit ago on ast top mounts. Im on bc top mounts now not sure if theres any difference but I check them every so often and they havnt budged since.
I think its minimal as the wheel didnt actually come off when they snapped it was still resting on the bolts, the wheel came off when it was on the back of the truck so the car just rested on the wheel slightly (y)
Yeah was the original one on from factory.
Yeah abs is my fault I should of left it alone but I at least I now know how to make brake lines now.
Unfortunately the hydraulic quick rack failed, the car was perfect before this started. Recent rack problem I think is just bad luck.
I know the stub...
My clio is cursed and its problems unique to any other clio. Low mileage silver 182s from dodgy dealers basically just sell your soul instead youll have less stress in life
Yeah that was my plan to do it right as well, for some reason my subframe is on the floor after rebuilding the rack and putting the rack back in with the subframe in situ, only to find out that in fact the rack bushes are shot after thinking it was just because one of the bolts came loose...
I had to buy a nonsport loom which had the correct gauge wire that goes under the skuttle to the relays, worked out perfect.
I have a cup interior loom and both power and earths are in there btw
