Where do you get your tyres changed @bill ? My local place charges £11 per tyre which is ok , but always on the lookout for alternatives. When will you switch back to summers ?
I could be the gear linkage needs greasing, its under the airbox / induction kit, so that will need to be removed. I would check that first, hopefully an easy fix !
GLWS , looks nice.
Minor points but I don't understand your first paragraph ? and re the screen washer bottle , does it need to be fixed or is it fixed.? Not meaning to be picky !
Is there anyway you could get your feet involved to push one side away whilst pulling the other (in opposite directions). Also worth a mixture of rotating the exhaust pipe rather than pure pulling, maybe twist the backbox to help.
It's not a complicated set up, if the pump is working and water is only coming out one side then either the pipe is blocked or it's split on that side I would say.
I assume he is talking about the auxiliary /alternator/accessories belt (whichever you want to call it). If it was worn and you have just had the cambelt done , it sounds silly not to have replaced the pulley too if that was at fault. That belt on its own if it goes could interfere with the...
Has it been noisy since they did the change, if so, take it straight back to the garage that did the belt change (although at 2 months down the line its not ideal).
Theses engines will never be described as sounding nice and smooth, and often can be compared to a Singer sewing machine IMHO...
Could be a damp issue in the ignition parts due to being stood for 3 months ? How we're the plugs when you removed them ? Worth checking the leads too. Failing that take it for a longer run up to temp and see if you still have the issue
Have often wondered this , just saw another thread which said with the help of a bracket you can fit brembos to the mk2.
Given than the mk2 have 16s does this still apply to the 197 ?
Sounds like a blow and / or the baffles rattling in the exhaust. Trouble is the place where the flexis go are hard to access , get your hand in and around the flexis (when the engine is cold so you don't fry your hand) and check for leaks. Also get a mate to temporarily block the exhaust pipes...
Worth a look if it's nice and local to you. Check the exhaust for blowing around the manifold area , the flexis can go there and whilst not the end of the world, they are a bit of a pain to remove and replace.
Seems like its had a hefty price drop , unless thats just marketing BS.
Its worth a look, although for that price with recaros i think i will be due (overdue) a cambelt change. Could be a nice 197 though, the advert is pretty un-informative (as they tend to be from garages)
