I have had cocksports and eibach, eibach although dont lower as much , coupled with Cup dampers are much more compliant for the road and not as harsh IMHO
There's always been a lot of witchcraft surrounding cambelts on here , which isn't the case. Good luck with it , would be interested to see some pictures of the change if you get any.
Are pattern part exhausts (mild steel to OE spec) available for the 197 ?
Or is it stainless system eg milltek , scorpion as the only aftermarket options ?
The internet doesn't reveal much, I suspect it's because they werent built in massive numbers the number of pattern parts isnt vast...
I have a 197 , had a 172 cup and 182, 197 is slower (understandable and well documented) , however I enjoy the handling of the 197 (in standard form , non cup) over the 1*2.
IMHO the 197 feels much more stable and planted (172 had eibach springs and 182 had cooksports)
Jack it on the wishbone bolt and an ice hockey puck is a good thing to use between the Jack face and the underside of the car.
For the rear , Jack it on the underside of the damper. The rear end is very light though.
I have often toyed with the idea of doing this ..however I fear I (and the rest of us) are gradually becoming more reliant on anything and everything that smartphones offer and the convenience that comes with it. Give it a few years and we will all be in too deep.
But, keep up the good work :)
Nice , they do have some girth all right ! I am looking to spend about 4k, so finding one with recaros is asking a but much.
Had 2x mk2s previously so looking for something different , but familiar.
Re the 5k kick, i was expecting something more akin to the 1*2 , which you can certainly...
thanks, helpful information.
Drove one earlier today (wasnt planned but a work colleague has just bought one) - it reminded me of my old 182 with the rough idle , handled like it was on rails though, it didnt feel to have much kick at 5k - is that normal? also the brakes were shocking compared...
Hi all,
Found myself being drawn back to clios, specifically the 197 - i know there is a bit of shared BMW/Clio love on here so here goes...I currently have a 330 which i have just put up for sale, at which point i will be in a position to buy a 197.
I have owned a 172 cup and 182 previously...
Nice thread!
The MCS is a car i have never ever considered for some reason but i do like them. A scan of AT confirms that i can get one for less than 4k which i didnt realise.
I am in two minds whether to switch from my E46 330 (probably why i am on CS!) and these seem to warrant further...
I had a 172 cup before my current 182. I have always liked the twin exhaust on the 182 but the interior is a much nicer place to be (i am comparing this to the 172 cup) - auto wipers and lights are excellent (an interior comparison between 182-172 would be much harder)
Overall for me it would...
After you have checked the fuse, if the problem is still present, pull your HU out and check the connections to the rear - unlikely to have come loose but may have a damaged wire
