Steve when you dropped the fuel tank did you have much of an issue with the bolts? What size and thread are they, I think I'll put some stainless in their place
That's my thinking, I'm shocked how much rust I've uncovered too. I think I'll need to tackle the fuel tank bolts because there is some rust tracking under it.
I dont see why there is any need to retain the original flexible hoses, just one more join to seize/leak in the future.
I'm confused why we all have such varying lengths though.
@Steven103 where were you getting them from and what price if you dont mind me asking?
I'm just looking for some clarification, I'm in the process of refurbing my rear beam and need to replace a few bits.
One of these is the rear brake lines and the short flexis, can these be done away with altogether and just run new braided lines from the caliper right up to the rigid lines...
Only got a pic from before I stripped it down at the moment, it's quite pitted so I hope it wouldnt look a right mess powdercoated.
@RustyMojo drilling it and tapping might be an idea or I could tigerseal the clips onto what's left once powdercoated.
To get it blasted/coated what do I do...
I've stripped off my beam and mounts to powdercoat but I'm wondering if it's too far gone, the threaded studs for the brakeline clips are corroded to thin barely usable spikes.
Is there a good solution to this or would I be best sourcing a better condition beam?
Got the anchor (beam) off, I was being cocky saying the bolts were all free as i had to cut 3 off. The bushes have practically no movement in them which would explain the bouncy rear end.
Some ugly rust on the shell that will need some treating.
