I've only washed the dirt off for now, I'll DA it tomorrow as I might as well while it's off then make a judgement but the paint is considerably darker underneath. I think flame red is a bu@@er for fading as most reds are.
Well I've popped the clio badge off and with a clean the word Clio can still clearly be read due to faded paint so I'm really unsure about taking the other side off now
I'm bored and no cash to pump into the flamer but I do have a 200 style rs boot badge, I'm torn as to whether to fit it in place of the standard badge or over the clio badge holes.
Standard, 197 or 200 badge? What are peoples opinions?
I've just done the very same job on my sills today, drivers side was about the same as yours but passenger side was near enough totally clean.
What are your beam mounts and where they mount to the shell like? They are the worst bit on mine so they whole rear beam and mounts will be coming off...
Ph1 and now ph2 are beginning to rust there probably due to blocked drains, I cleaned mine out and flushed with warm soapy water before a rub down of any rust then BH hydrate 80. I'll follow that up with some electrox primer then a good coat of BH s50
Yep suspension refresh although can get expensive if you cant decide where to stop.
But one thing I'd do is whip out the rear quarter interior to check for sill rust. Checked mine again today, still none on the near side and minimal on the offside.
This was local to me, had we not been heading towards this mess we find ourselves in I would have been tempted to have a sneaky bid on it. Looks very tidy too, Enjoy!
How does cancelling work out, I've been thinking the same with mine as I've just sorn it in these financially uncertain times. I'm with Greenlight on a mirrored no claims policy.
Nice work, it all looks very clean around the rear beam and brake hose bracket, surprises me how varying they can be with corrosion. Mines in dire need of a strip down and paintinv.
Its killing me seeing people crack on with projects at the moment.
I cant answer your question but my knock sensor plug is in a sorry state and barely connecting to the sensor. I'm not sure the purpose of the sensor but doesnt seem to affect running.
Not so sure mate, I find a car clean can be depressing as it's when I get a closer look at all the defects and think 'what am I doing piling money into this heap' I still carry on though😂
A few weeks back I began treating all back plastics on my 172 but after they have cured the more heavily textured plastics like wing mirror edges and mounts have almost white/grey colouration in the textured dimples. Can I simply scrub clean dry and retreat of is a more radical approach required?
Removing the seats is just 4x nuts under the car, 2 behind round rubber grommets and 2 through holes in the heat shield.
The inner ones without grommets I found to be a bit tricky due to corrosion but a bit of plusgas and their off. Lift the seat up and lever out the plastic spacers in the...
Thankfully I'm only 5' 7" I think so the seat height is less of an issue for me, I have taken the spacers out under the bases to lose probably another 12mm
Exactly, even if things get desperate theres no point me even contemplating selling my car or bike right now, be better off holding out until things improve and sell for half sensible money then.
I'll only be buying them back in the future anyway
