Sounds like a good plan then :)
I've started using the movie mode on the D90 for short clips around the bar but manuual focus can be a little annoying sometimes, other times its awesome!
Get it checked out mate - mine only went "hot" once and that was at a stag-do in the bar I be in - his mates had a stripper in and my camera wasn't the only thing flashing ;)
So I just grabbed the 2nd body and did a few fisheye shots + the onboard flash while it cooled :)
I have this little one http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-manfrotto-mk394-h-tripod/p1525002
Compact, light and sturdy enough to hold my heaviest lenses too
- it's a great job when I don't need my heavier Manfrotto 055xprob :)
I use the diffuser dome all the time too - lots of mirrors and windows/glass doors about so prefer a soft spread out flash.
At first I went in and started using Aperture mode with the flash on TTL/BL
Now I tend to stick the camera in Manual, 1/40th and f8 ISO 800 with the flash on TTL FP mode...
I use the same flash gun for photos in a nightclub every Friday & Saturday night without any problems.
Plus other occasional jobs on, generally I'm changing my batteries in the flash about once a week!
Awesome shots mate, I tried pushing my Sigma 70-300mm lens last September at the Portrush airshow over here
-the good old Irish weather didn't help much with the light but I have a few shots up here in a thread somewhere that I could call useable :)
I know what you mean, I was debating with myself for a few weeks over the same dilemma lol :o
Then I picked up a 2nd body ;) what body are you rolling with?
I love both of my f2.8's (70-200 as well) but if I need to go wider than 24mm I have my Sigma 10-20mm
Or in extreme cases or "just for fun" I'll use my Nikon 10.5mm f2.8 fisheye (fantastic little lens and a good one can be got cheap on eBay) ;)
The 10-20mm isn't or won't be as good as the Nikon...
I shot 1 so far (registry office wedding) who got me by chance at the last minute, and loved the photo's :)
Also have another booked for October this year in our parish Church & then on to the reception for a few poses & candids - better kit (faster glass) now and have a 2nd body too and I'm...
