The 17 year old in Manchester who insured his NA starlet with us for a screen rate of £4500 caused a slight snigger I must admit, believe it or not, that was by far the best price he'd been offered.
Yes. Racing on the public highway is also one to avoid..
Worth mentioning that the CU80 (using handheld device whilst driving) is attracting heavy loads, almost as much as drink/drug driving.
Not necessarily. Convictions and bans are more common than ever, obviously yes it will depend on the circumstances but the usual speeding bans aren't as bad as you would imagine as far as insurance loading goes.
FYI guys, with regards to the 'unlimited mods' insurers, this is just a clever marketing ploy, you'll find most specialists will offer you something similar, eg, let the insurer know your planned mods at the quotation stage and then say they will be fitted during that year's policy, you can...
Minimum age criteria as follows:
Age 19 or over with 2 years driving experience for TPFT Cover (car value -£5k)
Age 21 or over with 2 years driving experience for Fully Comprehensive Cover (car value +£1500)
Statistics, as ever. Also, when the 'caged car is crashed, the cage spreads the energy of the collision around the chassis resulting in more damage, therefore increased repair costs to the insurer, not to mention PI claims from body parts connecting with the cage.
Hi,
ideally for us that Astra needs to be a performance model or be modified, your club membership of CS will suffice.
When you speak to us, you'll be asked how your heard about us, please state CS.
Thanks
2 years with most, 3 years with a small minority of insurers.
From an insurers perspective, someone with a 2 year gap in NCB is more of a risk than someone with continuous NCB, this is obviously statistically driven.
Nah, they're fine really, plenty of specialists, plenty of parts, they ARE reliable generally speaking. I own a Mk1 with the mk2 turbo engine retro-fitted, it's a very capable little car.

^ spot on. Price comparison sites are set up to deal with standard UK car insurance, whilst some may quote for modified cars, you're better off with specialist insurers, you'll usually find better prices, knowledge and level of cover.
Bit of a pointless thread really.
The question is usually 'have you ever' rather than 'have you in the last x years'.
It would be to your advantage to use an insurer who have humans you can speak to rather than internet tick boxes.
Sorry, one more thing, if anyone is concerned about wasting their time on the phone, a quick PM to me with limited details such as car, postcode, age, NCB level will enbable me to give a good indication whether we can help (but not give a price I'm afraid).
Sorry for the hi-jack
Ollie
I have a feeling you are mixing us up with a lesser known insurer who used to trade on here, whilst yes we do have restrictions, we have never had an over 30 criteria on any vehicle. If it was postcode specific, the maximum age limit would be 25 or if we did not insure the postcode it would be...
We have an issue with your postcode for a very good reason, ie our underwriters paid out over £2 in claims for every £1 they took in premiums when we covered the area. I dont think many businesses would operate at that sort of loss. Thanks for your comment though.
It depends on the insurer.
