Feel free to give my company a call, we have no flashy official 'renault sport insurance scheme' title, just a good car club scheme with less restrictions than most of our competitors, oh and a healthy ClioSport member discount.

Correct, worry more about your own circumstances, eg NCB, postcode, where the car is kept etc
OP - feel free to call my company on 0208 3645500, we offer a discount to ClioSport members
I see this time and time again.. it really does baffle me why people drive with undeclared modifications (therefore potentially void insurance policies)
Depends on the insurer, if you are trying my company, and you have a 'show' cage, it is well worth making the distinction between this and a full roll cage.
The way you are perceived to drive with a cage fitted is only part of it:
1) People with roll cages are likely to push their car that little bit further, therefore 'caged cars are crashed more often, therefore there are more claims from 'caged cars than non 'caged cars.
2) Having a crash...
Adding a roll cage will rule out most UK insurers, even some specialists.
My company have no problem with roll cages but you are lookig at around a 15% load on the premium.
There is no age limit set in stone for classic car insurance, it will vary from company to company, most will be over 30's, some will be over 25's, if you look hard enough you may find a company with lower age limits but no insurer I know if is going to insure a car on a classic policy with the...
Yes, please give us a try. Yes the discount will be applied, it doesn't have to be a Clio. Please make it very clear you are a ClioSport member though, or if you would like to save your phone bill PM me your contact details.
Thanks
You may struggle to get a classic policy unless the car is garaged, a second car, limited mileage, no or few modifications.
Give my company a try, we insure MX5's in high volumes through our affiliation with one of the large MX5 Communities.

Insurance groups are only there as a guide and vary from company to company. I am not sure why people get so hung up on groupings... worry more about driving claim free under you own policy.

I'm not saying it is the case everytime but there seems a huge misconception that insuring a modified car is going to hurt your pocket more than a standard car.
An example. I have a Mk1 Mr2 with a 2.0L Turbo conversion. If I run the car through the price comparison sites as a standard car...
Considering you can insure modified cars with various specialists, quite often for cheaper (with mods included) than a normal insurer, dont you think your approach is a little backward?
In my opinion complaning about high insurance prices for new/young drivers is a fail. 12 years ago when I was 17/18 I paid £1300 to insure a car which was worth £150 on a TPFT basis.
High insurance prices for for young/new drivers is not a new thing!

If you are looking at modifying your car mid-policy, it pays to choose your insurer wisely at the beginning of the policy, ie check what they will be like for future mods.
My company for example would not charge any extra for adding the strut brace
No it doesn't make any real difference although some companies will not accept them. You should disclose the fact the car is a former write and adjust the value of the car appropriately (ie a cat c is worth less than a non previously written off car)
EDIT, was going to see if you had tried my company but just saw you were posting this a few weeks ago so I'll assume you are sorted, maybe bare us in mind for next year.
I believe it was discussed recently on here, lets just say, if an insurer suspects foul play in the event of a claim they will do some very careful investigations, is this involves tapping into the ecu to read max boost levels, it is easier enough to do.
