So surely Fred's 190bhp is all about the freak engine not the cat?
I well respected mapper on here told me std ph2 cat to decat would give you maybe +6 bhp.
Re: Ollie's Silver Cup - JMS RS2/428s/Wilwood/2118
I fitted mine. I'd say more like 4 hours, maybe more. Maybe the JMS boys can do it in 2, but the bolts underneath the manifold are awkward to reach. I'd say taking your time to get it nice and all the wiring moved about and made to look tidy...
Looks good, keep at it.
Have you looked at finding a garage to rent or something near your new gaff?
I've done the big commute and it kills you in the end. You have less time and are knackered as well so you just CBA with working on cars. An hour is manageable. Mine's come on loads since I...
There's a mark on block, it's in the manual. Something like the slot for the key (which is obviously empty) should be pointing between two bits of the casting.
You haven't read/understood my post. I understand why that procedure is most accurate, I understand about the tension between the pulleys.
Fred said above one of the two procedures is for VVT. I'm saying I don't see why you would only do it for VVT it is equally valid for non VVT.
I'd like you to explain. I know there are two procedures, I know undoing the cam pulleys is the most accurate way to do it.
But from an engineering point of view I don't see what difference VVT makes to the two procedures. Both procedures are equally applicable to a non VVT floating pulley set...
I know a renault mechanic who said they never undid the cam pulleys, I've seen other renault mechanics say it on here.
I never said it was the "right" thing to do. I'm just saying what I've heard.
AFAIK Renault don't undo the cam pulley bolts for a simple cambelt job.
So they will have needed only one tool to do your car. Since they will not have undone the cam pulleys the laser tool would have been fine for holding the cams in position as no force goes through it unless you undo the cam...
I'm removing the lower dash. It is all free but there is one group of wires that seem to not have any obvious connector to remove inside the car.
They come from the centre of the dash area, they are potentially to do with the alarm. They then loop round one of the air ducks which seems to be...
My point is if people want to have a go we should support them, obviously with warnings of the difficulties.
Not subscribe to the thread to see when it goes wrong! Great community spirit guys.
Reading threads where it has gone wrong it is mostly when people start the job without doing any...
Changing the belts is not that hard if you're competent and follow the manual. PM me your e-mail and I'll send you the manual.
These cambelt threads are getting ridiculous!
The front and rear are bolted together with a sleeve in this case. you can see them in my pic.
You weld in the floor plates for it to bolt to.
Once it is all in you weld in the door bars and cross.
WRT fitting procedure I guess I'll get it in the car. Mark up the plates. Tack the rear ones in...
Just got a response from OMP and they say it is correct.
When I trial fitted it yesterday it was about 1 inch too wide to go in behind the seats, the bolt holes wouldn't clear the chassis legs.
OMP say to fit it I need to remove the cross, fit the main hoop into the car and then re-fit the...
Thanks guys. Sounds like yours were the same then.
My cross bar is only tack welded and the picture on the web did not match what I got.
I did think the cross bar might fowl the seat as well, but I am fairly short so think it will be OK for me.
Hi
I've just received one of these AB/105P/220H image here http://www.ybracing.co.uk/page1.php?sitepage=4&area4=&subarea=248&part=20961.
But it's not what I was expecting.
Firstly it has a cross member in the main hoop.
Looking at project threads of people fitting these I expected it to be a...
I've got this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280593613318
Works fine.
I should add I had to find the drivers for Vista myself and the software is old... But Like I said it give you live readout of loads of stuff and will read faults.
For <£15 you can't complain.
