Down is least effort to the rears on the compensator, up is max. It may lock up if up... If you put your hand on it when someone presses the brake you should feel it move down as the piston takes some of the pressure away from the rears.
I was thinking about a cheaper cam for the rear since you...
I've got 205s all round. I get a slight rub OSR. I am quite a bit higher than you though.
Calipers look good.
Did you get a rear cam? What you been looking at?
Is this the new one or the old dash dodger?
I have the new one. You need to cut the dash and you won't get the door cards in with the door bars. I think the cage blocks of the B pillar seatbelt shoulder mount for the seat belt.
The phase 2 has a shorter final drive.
Early ph2 and all 172 cups have the speedo drive as well.
Both the same box though from a strength point of view.
On mine I think it hits the bolt head before that happens?
It's not uncommon to have a pad retaining mechanism like this, although I have to admit I always think they look a bit risky.
That's where I have my extinguisher cable.
I don't really understand your question. I just drilled through and fed it round behind the dash to run along the passenger side of the chassis tunnel to the extinguisher.
It will be visible/doable with the dash in if you can get your head down by the...
Do you get any brake vibration?
I'm getting quite a bit on mine and the front discs have only been on since the Mallory test. If it was a road car I'd be considering changing them.

Feeling your pain mate. I was not allowed in the garage for a week after my first race.
I'm relatively lucky with the neighbours though they are normally intrigued to see what I've had delivered. Although...
The coughing back through the manifold is most likely as you haven't had it mapped yet. I remember mine needed very gentle throttle at low revs before mapping.
My filter is same as yours, it's been fitted nearly 2 years without any issues.
To answer by numbers:
1. I think (I might go outside and check for you ;) that pipe is for the carbon canister, you can just leave it (bit pikey) or remove the carbon canister altogether and block the pipe from the tank. On a 172 it goes onto the oil breather plate.
2. It is a b*****d, you...
I had a set of cup racer wheels that were ET48.5, I measured them.
I just decided to use the std 15" oz f1s as they are 10 a penny so it makes having many sets of the same wheels easy.
Nice write up Sam.
It was interesting to see myself dropping all those places at the start from behind.
Nice overtake on the fiesta and close one into the hair pin with the BMW!
Converting to an alternative pas system is not an easy solution.
Your best bet would be a new std rack, but be sure the play is in the rack and not the tie rods ends or ujs.
You can have a pas pump that is driven electrically instead of by the belt, or you can have essentially a manual rack that has an electric motor on the column that assists with the turning of the steering wheel.
Don't know of anyone doing the latter but the burpspeed race car has an electric...

I'd get the current play problem fixed before you start the rebuild/refresh. That way you won't finish the rebuild only to still have the same problem.
Was it both dampers or just one?
You are more than...

Have you got someone to take a look while you move the wheel? It is difficult to see where the play is if you are doing it on your own.
Can you also feel play by pulling/pushing the strut towards/away from...
