How soft are your springs James?
Gutted I've had to pull out, my name is on the finals :(
The ECU, UCH and key are all locked together and need to speak to each other for it to work.
I don't know if you can have the immobilser deactivated, I've heard people say you can do it on ph1s.
If you can it would probably be worth you joining all the wires you've cut back up and get it...
There is nothing stopping you having a push button start with the std ECU but you would need the key in the ignition still or near the immobiliser ring thing that surrounds the key barrel.
Attacking the loom the way you have often ends in tears.
Do you need to get new cylinder head bolts when refitting the head?
Ktec web site says yes.
Renault manual says maybe - "The bolts can be re-used if the length under the head does not exceed 117.7 mm (otherwise change all the
bolts)."
Title should read head bolts BTW ;)

That is a lot. I'm currently telling the mrs how lucky she is that I only have 20 odd ;)

My Mrs would disagree with you Chip, she thinks 22 is too many.
I have 8 Oz F1s, 8 172 cup turinis, 4 cup racer 2118s and 1 172 ph2 and 1 non std renault turini as spares.
I should have just gone for ph1 Oz...
I think you can skim loads off. I read a thread that suggested 40 thou to get to 12.3 cr from a reputable (at the time) tuner. I guess the real answer depends on what you want to achieve.

Have you tried a spare engine loom? There are enough poeple breaking them that it can't that much. I assume the 172 cup has different loom to everything else?
I'm currently removing my engine (172 cup).
Where is the best place to disconnect the power steering pipes?
I figured it would be on the rack but it doesn't look very nice down there so I was thinking I could disconnect them at the pump and hold the pipes out of the way - seeing as they have...

Which engine mounts do you have James? std or ktec/vibratech ones?
I've just looked at a couple of used heads I've acquired and neither of them are that bad. I'd still go with it myself, it's not like there is much load on those bits compared to the big ends and the aluminium is very soft.
Only one rally there are year and don't think there are any other sprints either. There are some track days.
My local club is organising the autosolo that runs along side the sprint on the Saturday. I'm hoping to watch some of the rally on Sunday so will come over to say hello.

IIRC the tin tops rules are:
Original silhouette
Orig gearbox
Orig engine
Same induction system - but fuel injected cars may be fitted with throttle bodies
Not sure exactly what that means though, is the...
Tony/Jay/Pete/James what do I need to do about getting a transponder?
Sent off for my license and entered the Tin Tops Anglesey race today.
Got the dash looking a bit neater. I still need to chop out the air bag wiring and neaten up the cut off/ext bit in the centre console.
