IIRC loosening the alternator makes it easier to get the aux belt on but one of the air con pipes runs under it. If you aren't careful it could damage the pipe.
I did an auto solo at silverstone (carpark lol) last Sunday with the local motor club. Car behaved itself.I did OK 14th out of 60. Good fun hooning around a car park anyway.
I've now got the dash top back in and oil temp and pressure gauges where the centre blower holes used to be. Watching...
I don't know. The rest of us were politely pretending we hadn't realised and he left pretty sharpish.
Instructor was saying something about never having driven on a track before... I got the impression he had absolutely no idea what to do.
Thanks lol - one guy did fail though. I should have had my concerns about him though. It went something like this:
Instructor: "Congrats you've all passed the theory. You'll never have to watch that cheesy video again"
Instructor: "Now for the practical - I suggest you only drive at about 70%...
He suggested I should get some door cards because of the sharp edges - but it seemed more like his preference than an obvious requirement.
I've just kept the std fogs for my rain light - although the scrut didn't actually check them. The way I read it it goes on about a centre light but then...
Yes, you should get a new belt really. Plus you'll need "the tools" if you don't have them to hold the cams and pulleys in place for timing it back up.
What do you use to measure the AFR when on road mapping?
From what I've read the std lambda sensor will only tell you lean, rich or ok it won't tell you by how much.
Do you fit a wide band lambda in the post cat hole or is the std reading enough?
I do know a local ex-Renault mechanic who has setup in Newbury/Thatcham. He does alot of rally stuff too although from the sound of it you may have spoken to him already - although the guy I know runs megane and 205 rally cars.
After wondering the same thing and taking a peak. They've drilled through the spare wheel well just behind the factory fitted tow eye and bolted it to there, I think.
I write software for a living so I know about checksums, thanks for the link.
I used to do some scientific modelling that involved optimising very complex systems with lots of variables. I figured it would be similar.
Paul has mapped my car already and I agree his work is quality.
I'm just interested in playing with the map myself - just for fun ;) as it is my project.
Wondering what sort of kit I'd need to do it.
If I wanted to map the standard ECU myself what equipment would I need?
Something to read/write the map from/to the ECU - what?
Something to record sensor states - what?
Lambda sensor that can read AFR?
Thanks
Hi
I've drilled some holes in the clio to attach some things. I'm not planning on painting the area but I'm worried the sides of the hole will start to rust and then spread out from there.
I there a common way to stop this - I seem to recall zinc paint?
Thanks
I wonder how you'd get on with a welded diff on a circuit. They are much cheaper ;) That's what I used to have on my grass track car, bit more give on grass/dirt though lol.
