for pure enjoyment yes!! But for what it cost, putting that money into engine would of probably been more of a performance gain!
I always wanted the sadev dogbox out of the gr.n car but they hold there value well, when the sequential came up at a really good price I couldn't say no
Haha! That's just for the box, it's the rest Like the shafts, selector and gearstick which bumps the price up and that's not including the subframe and mounts to fit it! tbh looking back at it all it probably wasn't worth the hassle, but I've always wanted a sequential ;)
Ye I know what you mean, the likes of pembrey are car killers! So much broken Tarmac and pot holes, I do fancy doing a closed road event something like the Jim Clarke would be a nice one to do next year maybe
Ha! Ye it is a little :) was my first proper time out in it since the new wishbones, brakes and gearbox, just need to get it all setup properly now and get used to it!
No won't be out up epynt unfortunately, I'm thinking of doing the hill climb in llys y fran that weekend, just to get use to everything more than anything, my first rally event is most likely going to be pembrey in October. Are you going to out for that one?
Update time :
Its been quite a while since the gearbox broke down, turned out the wrong bearing was fitted to the final drive which caused 'end float' in the shaft which in turn punched a whole in the end casing!
When I finally got the gearbox and the lid off to inspect it, it wasn't a pretty...
Obviously! but you still need to make sure the bearing can cope with the extra force of having a helical pinion and crown wheel, a standard jc5 has tapered bearings and a nut to give preload. With semi helical there isn't as much thrust load, so no need for as much pre load in the diff bearings...
Isn't the baccio/sadev crown wheel semi helical and the standard would be just helical, would this cause any issues? like more force on the diff bearings?
Just ask baccio for the sadev fitment type crown wheel, no need to machine slots, this is what I did when I ordered my crown wheel pinion.
Baccio do three different types of diff fitment, the press on, the standard bolt on and the sadev bolt on type!
I'm 99% sure they are, just because when I ordered new bearings from swr for the diff, Jill said that they had the same part numbers as the sequential box
Im pretty sure they do all different ratios, I had a 12x63 for mine, I'm sure there was a few to choose from iirc!
This is the one I had
You have to make sure you tell them it's for a sadev diff or they will send you the one in that link you posted
If that's the case then why not get one from bacciromano as they do a pinion for a jc5 with the crown wheel fitment for the sadev diff! I used this when fitting the sadev diff to my jc5 box
Hi Lloyd sorry for the mis information, you did look like you where struggling with the back end on the 90's so just presumed you must of caught the back end somewhere, and for the bag tank it looked quite big when I had a nose down service, I was looking for you but didn't see anyone around the...
Ye the pms discs are the r2 discs, and the calipers are excaltly the same, no difference between the r2 ones and the clio 197/ megane calipers,
The discs ain't cheap tho mind, I think I paid 350 for the pair from rsport for mine
Sorry mate only now I'm seeing this post! No problem at all! That bonnet is ridiculously light, tbh I wish I bought a fiberglass bonnet now lol! The car is looking really good mate, can't wait to see the new doors too :)
I think your right, I've just had a good look at it and you can see some kind off black sealant on there. and the rubbing marks on it don't look fresh either. As if its been damaged and repaired before. I just can't believe I didn't spot this earlier!!
update time! but unfortunately not a good one, after a lot of hard work the last couple of weeks to get this car ready for the track day today all ended in tears this morning,
last night after doing a couple of last minute jobs we tried to start it but with no joy, it's just kept cranking over...
Tbh mate, I've not got any further with this, still can't find anyone to map it, I didn't commit to buying it until I could definitely get it mapped! I did mange to find 2 Ecu's tho for sale, one was from a saxo s1600 and another from a Ducati 998rs race bike. Both use a mf3s ecu which has the...
The cup racers uses a larger bore cylinder. It's 23.81mm, I've just fitted one to mine and it works perfectly only have to change 2 of the brake line fittings to fit it to a 172 cup. Can't remember if it was m10 to m12 or the other way round.
Ye wasn't cheap! But like you said this kit is 'pure' quality :) that is my biggest worry now is keeping it on the Tarmac, really don't want to bend anything, with this kit tho, it's so strong I'm more like to bend the subframe before I go snapping or bending the wishbones themselves!
You...
Quite a lot. I did choose to have a the more uprated spherical bearings which bumped the price up. As I'm the first to have this I did have it cheaper. Nick told me that the fabrication cost where more than first anticipated so he will be selling this more than what I had paid for it. I'll send...
